This particularly true of the hubs like Firelink Shrine and the Nexus.

I'm not concrete in my DaS 2 knowledge, since I couldn't stomach it long enough to beat it but I've read a good amount of lore, and I guess the story is that you go to Drangleic to cure your hollow, whatever it's called. You get there and someone tells you that to cure yourself you need to slay the giants, but it turns out there's no cure, and they were baiting you into becoming king or some shit, and everyone else playing the game is a hollow that had come through at some point with your exact reasoning and faiiled in some form or another. Remember you're still in Anor Londo and as Sunbro says, Time is Fucky here yo. so shits' all fucked and you get tricked into "fixing it"

Hit the bracers until they shatter. They each represent 1/3 of his health.
Try to keep close to him, if you run away far up he gonna crawl towards you, and the breath is more difficult to avoid when you have a wall of rocks at your back.
Just keep moving all the time, watch out for his swings and the sword nova, and go berserk on the bracers whenever you can

Base game, probably not, dependant on how familiar you are with the series. The level design in DaS3 is very, very good, and the levels are very sprawling with tons of items crammed everywhere.

Cathedral or Catacombs, which way should I be going?
I tried Cathedral before Farron Keep but got my shit rekt on rooftops/rafters, and also had zero idea where I was going. Also if anybody knows where to acquire some large titanite I'd appreciate it very much. Still using a +3 longsword and the damage is really dropping off now.
How do I beat yhorm? Even with the storm ruler I only do like 90 damage to him at most. After one fight I can only manage to knock of maybe an 8th of his health. What gives?

I, like most of you, Dark Souls 1 was my all time favorite game. I played the shit out of demons souls, I remember me and my buddy being the only two people at the midnight release for Dark Souls (everyone else was there for Rage). I was an absolute dark souls fanatic.
But even without the interconnected world Darks Souls 3 is looking superior. I'm no where near done the game but just the combat, the story lines, the multiplayer and covenants, and the fucking level design. Unless this game goes downhill somewhere, I think it's better than the original.

the plot of 2 is really fucking stupid but i'll be as simple as possible. King Vendrick and his wife really fucking hate giants so they go to the giant's island to murder them. The giants lose the initial battle but Vendrick underestimated how many giants their actually were. The giants then invaded King Vendricks land so in order to have enough troops to fight the war he reignited the great fire and brought all the undead back to life again. They beat the giants but the entire kingdom got all fucked including king vendrick who became hollow. An evil witch monster thing named Nashandra wants to take over the thrown so she makes an illusion of the queen to trick the undead into gathering all the pieces of the great soul for her so she can take the throne for herself. And thats basically it, its a lot more contrived and stupid than that but thats the gist.

The multiplayer system in this game really perplexes me. Why cant I just choose a friend from my friends list and play coop with them? I hate the stupid password system and it doesn't even work seamlessly 90% of the time.
I notice this mainly with Japanese games, they make a great fucking game but its littered with stupid fucking decisions like the multiplayer summoning system. I don't feel like fighting the game just to play some coop, makes me not even want to play coop at all.

From what I've played so far, the level design is easily the most consistently good in the series.
Cathedral of the deep is outstandingly good with all the exterior and interior routes and shortcuts around basically one main bonfire, farrons keep/cruxifiction woods and undead settlement are all amazing as well
The areas are big, interwining and full of great vistas and crammed full of nooks and crannies which genuinely reward exploration.
The moment I went up to the stray demon in farron's keep was bliss
