Don't feel nervous about running dungeons for the first time when you're new. I haven't seen anybody bully sprouts when I played with them.
Don't join a Free company if you get a random invite to it, they're not really a community, they just try to add new players to build up points off of them when they level.
Don't bother buying gear when you're leveling up, you'll usually get them as quest rewards while you play.

What you can do between 30 and 40 to not lose aggro to healer DoTs as a PLD: have gear that isn't 5 levels below the content you're doing, switch targets, and more importantly flash more and get back your MP with riot blade.
Hell I've done PLD. it's not a walk in the park but I didn't lose aggro, even to synced blackmages. being unable to keep up with scholar damage output is awful.

Well besides them being single target and not AoEs, at all, they don't even make sense in groups of 4 or more targets.
Applying 2 DoTs to 3 enemies, which is a standard pack, takes roughly 15 seconds. By this time bio will be wearing off on your first target. Inefficient to have more than 3 at a time.
Of course, this doesn't apply to real AoEs where you can hit multiple targets at once.

"AoE" or "AE" is an abbreviation for, "Area of Effect", implying an ability which connects to more than one target. Certain cleave abilities are not considered AoE in some games, simply for their inability to hit more than two-three targets, instead being referred to as a cleave-ability.
A typical World of Warcraft AoE ability would be the Warlocks' "Rain of Fire", which designates an area and bestows constant, channelled damage upon that area and EVERYTHING hostile/neutral within it.
The mage-ability "Flamestrike" is a cast-spell which creates a similar effect, only this spell is not channelled, delivers an instant burst of damage, and then remains on the targetted area for low, constant damage to anything hostile/neutral within it.
A martial AoE ability would (in wow) be the warriors' Bladestorm ability, which attacks -everything- around the warrior for a channelled duration.
Cleave is not considered AoE.
The rogue combat-specialty-cleave is likewise not considered an AoE (it's been changed since I played rogue, I think it's a toggle for 3 targets now, still not really AoE)

Sure, but its a matter of degrees. For something that is now a core aspect of gearing for everyone, materia melding is *disproportionately* inconvenient to arrange. Hell, raid food and pots are even more optional luxuries by that measure - but I can get those conveniently off the MB on my terms.
You know what, why not make it so that to meld materia at all you have to access a special machine located in the current tier's raid zone (after the first boss, because I'm feeling generous).
Now if you're a career crafter and want to get anything melded at all, you have to do what I do which is pester your friends or open a PF listing and offer to tip a static to escort you there.
Relying on others is a good thing after all, we want to foster more experiences like that.
