There's no obligation for a franchise to have any sort of continuity. The connecting theme of Farcry is not "Frank Carver and Trigens", it's "first-person shooting in exotic locales".

What does Crysis have to do with anything? Apart from shitty final boss fights and a few frustrating levels (piloting the V-TOL through the valley with the tornadoes with the game constantly crashing) all three games were great.

As a scientist I'm baffled that this ever came to fruition.
Just because there isn't a vocal crowd of people wanting a game like this doesn't mean that a niche of people will buy it.

It wasn't particularily amazing, fairly bland/generic.
it was just another "shooter", except you only had bow as option for firing projectiles. (and throwing rocks/ using a sling)
