You can do both. If you are summoned (you won't be after about 2 weeks), then enemies attack you and you can attack anyone.
If you invade, you are just like a normal invader in every way, except you're purple and you can also attack reds.

See that's the thing.
When you're summoned you can fight the host or the enemies, but the host knows that because your sign is purple and cannot be disguised, and you cannot enter the boss room.
You can invade using red eye orbs, but then you're just a regular invader, monsters won't attack you and you can't harm them.
The covenant literally doesn't do anything you can't do in another covenant other than prevent you from fighting the boss if summoned.

You get different rewards from each one. Most grant some kind of useful spell or weapon reward at max rank but they may not be useful to your build. If you can't use miracles, you wont get much use out of the sunbro lightning spear.

It's about what % of your equip load you're using, with your total equip load being dependant on your stamina. There are some rings that boost it, too.
It only takes into account what you have equipped, so you don't even need to store it in the box, just unequip it.

Gonna level up dex only until something like 25, same for other physical attributes, while he tries to make up for his lack of physical strenght by buffing his weapons with magic.
Also, I think they only did Deprived good in DaS2 and actually allowed you to make any build.

Still too early to tell. Two very popular weapons, the dragonslayer swordspear and the farron greatsword are somewhat quality with significant leaning towards Dex. (20 STR is probably around the best, but I didn't do any calculations)

Big strength weapons are a lot more viable because of their weapon art that gives them hyper armor on an attack, letting them trade with fast dex weapons while hitting like a fucking truck.
Dex is good because of the same reasons it's always good, speed, damage, and a few weapons in particular with great reach/low stamina cost.

Yeah, and weapons like curved swords and scythes, but dark souls 3 has options for str and dex among most weapon classes. Some scale well with both so you'd go for a quality build that pumps strength and dex to take advantage of them, usually with less points in strength since it goes up x1.5 when 2handing.

I'm not entirely sure yet. I'm between Mound Makers and Warriors of Sunlight. The Mound Makers sound like fun because you can basically do whatever you want. It's a shame you can't help hosts with bosses though. It also seems like it may be annoying if you want to co-op but the host attacks you out of fear or something.

Well, that sounds neat.
Despite everyone being sceptical of the purple covenant, I think it would be neat. I probably won't be summoning any purple phantoms intentionally on my first playthrough of any area, but on NG+ and subsequent builds it might be interesting to bring in someone whose allegiance you can't really be sure of.
Like a Patches the Hyena Covenant. They might be helpful, but they're more likely to kick you down a hole.

They do occupy a white phantom slot if you put down your white soapstone and are summoned, but they cannot help with bosses. They're able to attack and be attacked by normal enemies but once the host enters a fog gate they get booted.
I would do blades of the darkmoon if i actually got humanity/embers for it this time.

Been playing as Darkmoon for a week now, only summons if there's enough room in hosts room (ie dried finger) to summon you to protect him against invaders. You don't invade guilty at all, despite there being a fucking statue for sin. Maybe they plan on implementing the sin mechanic on english release? Either way, Darkmoon and Sentinels are currently exactly the same. Same kill reward too.
