Krystal wasn't necessarily a mistake. Keep in mind that she is the known main character of Dinosaur Planet, the original Nintendo 64 game developed by Rare, before development shifts made by Nintendo. If anything, it's Nintendo's decisions and fanbase which made Krystal a mistake.

Miyamoto made her a low tier fur bait when he merged Dinosaur Planet into Star Fox. Also she's like the CW's Felicity Smoak to Fox's Green Arrow. Fox and his team are trying to do their jobs as heroes but this bitch and her relationship drama that no one wanted.
