I don't know where to post this, so I'll post it here. How good is the following PC build, and how well would it run Arma 2: OA, or more current games like The Witcher 3?

I haven't seen touched a dvd in years

I like to have one, as I have some old games on CD. It's only $13, so why not?

This is more of a issue for the Tech board, but they're a bunch of Nazis on a good day, so eh.
Since it has Win10, I assume it's a pre-built rig? Cause 7 is outright better than 10 for Vidya and actually having some privacy.
Otherwise, I'd say you're golden to have some pretty good gaming, max settings on modern games is definitely possible, 60 FPS.

What the fuck.

Since this looks like a question thread, how hot is a 290x supposed to run?
I understand it's a hot card, but it climbs to 85c+ when I max out Xcom 2, and it's pretty intimidating.
>>
>>333844596
Hardware can get pretty hot before anything bad happens, but if it's 85 degrees from playing Xcom, you might want to consider getting a better cooler.

>GTX 980 ti
You'll be able to run everything my friend. Your cpu MIGHT be a bottleneck, but it won't be an intolerable one.

However, you might want to consider looking at the ASUS Strix version of the 980ti. It will keep your card cooler, I swear by them even for the extra price.
>>
>>333844762
Any suggestions on coolers then?
I've done the best I can do when it comes to airflow, so I guess the only thing left is a cheap water cooler.
>>
Your build currently more or less top of the line, you will be able to play pretty much everything maxed out or near maxed out (Only shit that will give you issues is unoptimized crap).

The Corsair H60 or H55 is great if you want a 120mm cooler, or the H100i for a 240mm. I personally have a H105 and it is good for the most part, allows me a high overclock. Only bad thing about it is attaching it to the CPU is a pain in the ass because of its design.
>>
>>333844052
also its convenient since most motherboards I have purchased has the LAN drivers on the disc it comes with

Not exactly a thing I've done before, but I have friends that vouch for EKWB

I'm not too informed on using anything but coolers designed for gpus in the first place.
Is installation of cpu-intedned coolers om a gpu just a matter of removing the entire plate from it and attaching it?
>>
>>333844342
No, it's custom built. I was thinking of getting Win 10 because it's a bit cheaper. I am a little turned off by how it looks, and if my older games will be compatible on it. Aren't there programs that will make Win 10 look more like Win 7?
>>
Don't want to open up a new thread so maybe someone can help me here?

I'm looking to upgrade my gpu. Currently running a gtx 560 ti, but it's slowly dying.
I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars as I'm only playing on 1080p.

I can't decide between the r9 380 or the gtx 960. Both cost pretty much the same, which one is better though?

>not owning any PC games on discs

Stupid millennial.
>>
>>333846719
Those are both rebranded last gen cards on newer architecture. Save up for something nicer, like a 970 or a 390
>>
>>333846978
Okay that's like 100 bucks more but doable. is the 970 or the 390 the better choice?
>>
>>333847715
I, personally, would go for the 390. It consumes more power, though, but if your PSU is good enough to handle it, your good to go.
>>
>>333847715
I wouldn't recommend going with AMD unless you know exactly what you're doing. AMD takes a bit more labor to get working in some cases. It's better now than it was a few years ago, but maybe just stick with nvidia.
