>>333832401
Snow levels tend to be decently based. Especially if coupled with a christmasy bg song.
>>333832756
It's pretty good for a quiet evening
I love Metropolitan themes. Sly Cooper is my favorite game because of this.

My favorite levels are snow levels, I hate using nebulous descriptors like """comfy""" but there's something really comforting about them. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, especially when it's still snowing during the level.
Personally, I like the cuckold-themed levels. I often play them with my wife's son before preparing the bull.
anything but snow levels, theyre universally shit
Tropical island or forest levels. Ancient ruins can be cool aesthetically, but they usually are too cramped and maze like for my tastes.

pic related. I like snow levels and all, but I want it to have an isolated feel.
I have to go with >>333832613 and agree that sewers fucking kick ass.
>>333832401
Space, bonus if the physics get crazy
It's like the polar opposite to underwater stages
I like ones that mess with scale, the Napoleon level is also good.

Sky levels
Especially the ones where you're platforming on airships and shit.

They also tend to have fucking top OST's.
I love underwater levels! Especially if it's like a flooded castle or mine/cave or something like that.
Mountain levels anyone?

Basically a lot of that white and azure.
>>333832401
This is gonna be such a generic answer, but I honestly love snow levels. Yeah, most people do but I can't help it. I really like winter and snow in real life too.
>Beach level
>60's surf music starts playing
Ancient sacrosanct temples and ruins, plus additional points for remote location and reverent music

I always like libraries
duke's archives is my favorite
Libraries
Long lost overgorwn ruins permeated with an atmosphere of former grandness and discovery
Snow levels.
factory/general mechanical levels
always challenging, always have great music, and always look so unique compared to the other levels in a game. I'm a big fan of the general obstacles in them such as gears, crushers, and conveyor belts too

What games have upside-down levels?
Worlds that gets destroyed as you progress. Doesn't matter the genre, watching everything around you fall to the ground or blow up feels really fucking great.

Sonic Colors. The entire game has some of my favorite level themes ever. Planet Wisp and Tropical Resort in particular are my favs.
Fire levels. They're usually fast and keep you on your toes.

Well technically that last one is a city of hell transplanted to the human realm.
Casinos, theme parks and neon cities at night are my favorite. I blame the Mega Drive Sonic games.
Miniature
Don't have any pics but I love Halloween levels. That is, the ones that follow the "kiddie" aspect of the holiday, with costumes and candy and jackolanturns everywhere.
My favorite one's the one in ape escape 3. Actually that game has a lot of fun levels based on different themes. I love the Christmas level in that game, too.

best song in the game
>>333838439
It's a meme from some cuck at a Trump rally.
Generic grassland (usually starter levels). It's 2comfy.
I really like when games make use of some biomes and unique settings that you don't typically see in video games. Donkey Kong Freeze did this beautify with the first three worlds in the game, but then just gave up in the fourth with a generic water world and another forest. The second world in that game is of my favorite, since I love autumn settings and deciduous forests.
>>333838156
>>333838439
Do you know what a cuckold is?
>>333841475
No it doesn't.
>>333842171
the forest was an entire production line though. how is that generic?
I must be the only person who loves sewer levels.
>>333842690
I get that, and I liked to just fine. I was just hoping for another environment. The generic statement was more for the ocean island.
Also side note, is it ever explained what the hell the snowmads are up too in all these islands they invaded? Going though it I expected them to explain, or at least give some visuals to give you an idea, of what their end goal is. In Returns the Tikis use the banana juice to build more of them, but the snowmads are just sort of there.
>>333843371
Well they are Vikings. They probably just go around conquering islands and thought DK's was nice enough to move into. also the forest had 2 full on factory levels and a beehive
>>333843330
I like sewer levels too. Don't see why they get so much hate.
>>333832401
Forest like environments. Knothole Glade from Fable is easily my favorite example of this. Maximum comfy.
Dense urban environments are nice too. Also snowy wastelands like Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime or E.D.N 3 from Lost Planet.
>>333833210
Sauce on pic?
>>333836645
I love Halloween levels too. Pic related is my favourite.
>>333842228

Temples/Ruins get a good second choice for me. DKC and Crash Bandicoot have some real comfy ones.

I don't know what you'd call this, maybe "neighborhood levels"?
>>333845353
Urban, before urban became synonymous with "run down /decaying nignog town"
>>333833034
>Snowbro
You're a cool guy as far as I know.
>>333845515
Yeah, when i think urban, decaying nignog town is exactly what comes to mind.
>>333842228
Fucker knows exactly what cuckoldin' is
Hes just farming easy replys off you lot like a typical mmo grind session
>>333836753
Planet Sonata in Ristar is still my favorite example of this.
>>333833831
>And Tiny-Huge island
I was looking at deep sea creatures last night. You ever seen a goblin shark? Shit can detach it's jaw to bite something.
GLITZVILLE

Tropical or exotic levels.
This whole game was like one long orgasm for me.
