hey guys I am building a rig for gaming and anime because i just moved out. This will be my main source of entertainment for a long while and my budget is just under $1000. Anyways, I need help with some things. I am having trouble looking for a motherboard that will work with an Intel Core i7-4790 processor. In the /g/ sticky it says to " select a motherboard that is built with the same standard socket as your selected CPU, otherwise your computer cannot function" which is very concerning. I am not versed in technology at all so if you could please help me out; I would really appreciate it. I also need help picking out the other parts like the ram, storage, psu and case. Will any of you give me any recommendations for parts? Again i have no knowledge and am comparing parts to see what is affordable and will run good.
tldr; I need to build a pc for gaming and anime. My budget is $1000 and I have no idea what i'm doing. Can you reccomend me parts or tell me a decent set up i can use? Please and thank you!

Socket is literally what it sounds like. It's a socket on the motherboard in which you insert the CPU. Obviously if it's incompatible, you won't be able to even install the CPU.

It's on a sticky on /g/
Anyway, OP might want to wait until April or June when the newest series of GPU's come out from Nvidia and AMD, respectively

Is there even a release date for pascal yet?

I thought that they were gonna drop something late this month and AMD was gonna try to undercut them in june. I'll look for some sources

Have a source for rumored price points?

Get the new Intel architecture so u have an upgrade path, first of all. Get an 1151 socket mobo and something like a 6600k. Don't worry about an i7. Get atleast a gtx 960/ r9 370 if u can't wait for the new series of amd/Nvidia gpu. Get a decent case that allows for cable management u will thank me. Something like fractal define r4. Get a fully modular psu. Get 16gb ddr4. Go fourth. It's over 1k but don't be a pleb.

None that I can find, but they'll probably be in about the same price range as their predecessors.
So like the R9 490 will be about the same at the R9 390 ($350) and the GTX 1080 will likely be about the same as the GTX 980 ($500)
Try this OP

Add another 100 bucks for a good 1080p monitor if you don't already have one
