>20 bucks for a walking simulator offering 4 hours of gameplay
Gotta love indie devs
>>

Well people bought Dragon's dogma on pc and it's a running simulator, i don't see the problem.

The difference being that your statement is a hyperbole and OPs is not

I sincerely wonder if you know what that word means. I think people meme so hard these days that they lose the meaning of words.

I've never played a walking simulator, not any of those recent hyped ones or anything, but when Firewatch came out, I still gave it a try.

Artstyle looked nice, looked comfy and not TOO linear, and it had a bit of mystery.

What a boring waste of time. The mystery ended up being the most forgettable shit, the sense of "being watched" was gone pretty quick, and all of the enviornment looked the same. Man, fuck Firewatch. I hope games don't take inspiration from it.
>>
The ending sucked balls.

It started up great, built suspense and intrigue in the middle and then was like: "oh, those two girls were found and everything was this one boring guy."
>>
I didn't buy it, but it made me realize that I really want the main character's job. So there's that.
I'd have to move though.

I enjoyed it, story was good with plenty of stuff going on. The art style and music was good, the game was comfy as fuck.

If you don't like walking simulators then don't buy them, I like them and Firewatch was a good one.

This was my first walking simulator I had bought and I am so dissapointed. I got really hyped from the comfy mystery Game trailer and as a result wasted my money. The ending was so anticlimactic despite having a perfect set up. They could have built up that suspense into a much more interesting ending. They should have went with some paranormal creature in the woods story, or Henry being confronted by some dark past he's running from , or stuck with researchers manipulating them. It would have been much better

You guys have really limited taste in video games.
>>
the insanely high amount of people making fun of how shitty other fanboys' recent games are means that the industry is going down the toilet
>>
>>333716945
Because gamers are entitled faggots who don't understand the amount of time and effort people put in to making games. The problem with video games is gamers.

Pretty much this. I went in expecting a comfy time and I got what I came for.

Also the ending wasn't a huge surprise, Delilah always came off as a flake. I thought we'd have become strong enough friends for her to visit or something though.
>>
People pay 60 for 8 hours of play.
>>
>>333717296
>I thought we'd have become strong enough friends for her to visit or something though.

This is the only thing I was disappointed with, meeting her at the end and sharing the chopper ride out would have been much better.
>>
It was okay I guess. That whole camera was poorly thought out though. Having that dead boys skeleton show up in the credits was kinda funny.

Let's compare this with a game like TW3, where I paid 60 bucks, got around 110-120 hours of gameplay in my first playthrough, then played it again 4 months later, still discovering new quests and locations along the way. This is an example of a game that is huge in itself and offers high replayabilitiy at the same time.

Meanwhile Firewatch offers 0 replayability and a very small fraction of that gameplay, yet magically costs 33% of a full AAA game. 5 bucks would've been okay.
>>
I watched a playthrough of it, the game looked pretty cool and interesting until the end

Why did they fuck everything up?
>>
>>333718842
It's on PC too so please try to contain your butthurt shitposting.
>>
>>333712594
Fucking lowbrow, fire watch is an interactive audiobook, stop calling it a game.
>>
>spend 90% of your game building up a conspiracy mystery
>in the alst 5 minutes go "oh hey one dude it just a prank breh"
>the player has absolutely no impact on how the story plays out, every choice is an illusion

the only actual choice you get to make that has an impact is at the absolute end where you can do nothing and stare at the heliocopter for a while until it takes off without you and the credits roll

what a piece of shit game
>>
>muh artsy pastel graphics
>>
>>333713981
Yea, but it has more power for multiplayer games, so is a lose-win, while Xbox is a lose-lose product.
>>
I pirated this game because from the trailer I expected it to be horror game like alan wake.
I was dissapointed.
>>
>>333719056
I would be more accepted of this if it didn't waste your time with obvious game-only padding

>hey you just made it to the bottom right corner of the map, now please walk all the way to the top left
>>
I spend more than that for an 1 1/2 hour flick.

Quit bragging about how poor you are.

A movie doesn't waste my time with shit like >>333719231

Also any movie that builds up a story for 110 minutes only to discard it in the last 10 and end as underwhelming as Firewatch would be called shit too.

Wow, that's pretty surprising. Well, hopefully it means we'll see more games like this. It's nice to play something different once in a while.

can someone explain this? Why isnt anyone making the next Doom?
>>
>>333722484
Loneliness is a liberal identity politics hot topic?
>>
>>333722562

no, this game avoided it, but shit like Gone Home
>>
Some of the mystery is fun, but other than that, it's shit.

I was expecting some simulation elements with fire look outs, but instead you get a choose your own adventure.

I'm a rural firey, and I am disappointed, son.
>>
>>333712594
>gameplay
This 'game' is about as interactive as a DVD menu
>>
>>333722671
Except you don't get to choose anything.
Even the whole "roaming this open wilderness" part gets old superr fast once you realize it it neither open nor wild.
>>
>>333722762

>not much choice

Indeed. I meant with the dialogue rather than game play.

There's pretty much zero choice in regards to exploration of the outdoors, as it's railroaded the entire way.
>>
>>333722839
Except even the dialogue doesn't matter.
You know that one part where the woman asks you if she should tell the truth about you meeting those missing girls? No matter what you tell her, she'll lie about it.
And that's pretty much the case for all dialogue, the player has no agency whatsoever.
>>
Pirated on PC, just finished it.
It's not very interesting, but at least it's not filled with SJW crap despite the devs sucking Anita's and Tim Schafer's cocks. It's much more linear and not nearly as good looking as the trailer suggested, plus it made me think it might have some barebones survival mechanics which it doesn't. Delilah's omgsoquirky personality isn't very believable. At least with Henry they gave you the option not to spout some witty comment every time. I think the story is way too convoluted for how simple it turns out to be in the end, the
>you're the subject of some weird social experiment
part felt pointless, and it's not something a hermit in the woods would come up with.

If I paid for it, I'd probably be disappointed.
>>
>>333722762
>"roaming this open wilderness" part gets old superr fast
Plus it can break your game. I had to restart on Day 76-77 because I started wandering around in seach of tools instead of telling Delilah I can't get across the fence, and when I got back to the entrence of the fenced area, the prompt to radio her didn't appear.

I'd really like to know what you mean by this.
I guess blaming parents who don't want their kids to be little bitches is something a liberal would do, but it's not exactly frothing mouth propaganda.
