Have you seen how huge the SNES color palette is? Link has his hair color as part of his own costume and as part of the house you start in, there's no reason he couldn't have had standard hair.
Most likely they just decided it looked good when it was pink. Certainly goes better with his get-up than brown/blonde hair would on the sprite.

But no, the strongest Link is from the original and Zelda II.
Only one to traverse both southern and northern Hyrule (all other Hyrule based games only use southern), fought the strongest monsters (ones that were so strong they could push his shit in despite having the best sword/shield from Zelda 1), assembled the Triforce (instead of just finding the already assembled set).
