you need to rip the VHS and it probably requires some hardware, ask /g/ imo. don't mention its /v/ related though.
get a rca capture card, you can find them pretty cheap
(assuming your vcr is rca in/out)

If you have an okay computer you can just record to a raw digital video file using something like this: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB3HDCAP-Video-Capture-Device/dp/B00PC5HUA6
You use the VHS video output cables, if you're lucky you have s Video, but composite will work too. Connect those to the breakout set that comes with the capture device like this and then, bam, decently recorded video.
You can even record shit from games or stream them live using something like this.
