>You couldn't beat me in all of...Never-ending Eternity
Zowie loses his eyebrows when he's in the mechsuit
Also, which version do you prefer, the PS2 version or the PSP?
I'm sad that rhythm games are dead. Only like one game is coming out this year
>>333624938
Its really unfortunate, its an interesting genre.
The most recent one I remember playing was necrodancer, and that's barely a rhythm game.
>>333624794
There's a difference?
>>333625341
Yeah, other than a graphical difference, I feel the PSP version is much more lenient on the line and button presses. I was able to finish the game in one sitting, only losing to Zowie a couple times, while the PS2 version took me a good couple weeks to do.
>>333625586
adding on to this, the PSP version could have seemed easier becauseI beat the PS2 version before trying it
could also be the fact that I emulated both games, PSX didn't really have any gameplay effecting issues, just a few graphical hiccups like pic related
>>333624543
YES I CAN BECAUSE I.....BECAUSE I...
>>333627368
I'M GITAROO MAN
Gitaroo-Man is one of the world's few legitimate 10/10s
What stage was the hardest for you guys?
I had alot of trouble on Gregorio and Sambone Trio.
JUST DODGE U-1KEEP DODGING
>There will NEVER be a full version of Overpass
Chances of this showing up on PS4 as part of their PS2 emulation re-releases with trophies?
It's amazing how such a silly scene can still be so emotional.
>You'll never beat me!
>Yes I can!
>You're a loser!
>I can beat you!
>Why?
>Because I can!
>How? Show me!
>Because... because... because I AM GITAROO MAN!
Still gets me each time.
>>333630398
>Get all A ranks on Master's Play trophy
>>333630663
>A Rank Master San Bone Trio
>>333630620
Just in general, those quotes between levels were motivating
>Depending on others is like running a 3 legged race
>You may not realize it
>but you aren't even using half your strength
>>333630663
>>333630847
The one I still love the most is
>It doesn't take much to change "Impossible" to "I'm possible". Follow your dreams"
>>333630202
Seconding Gregorio, but it's also one of my favourite stages
Overpass is such a fucking good song and I'm upset they didn't have a full version of it, even if the Legendary Theme duet with Kirah is also fuckin' rad.

>>333624543
INFINITY
IMPOSSIBLE
>>333630992
For some reason I never found Gregorio hard but San Bone Trio pushed my shit in.
As far as favorites, the Kirah fight easily. That middle transition from fighting to playing with her is just sweet as hell.
>>333626178
OH GOD!
>you can still hear his voice
>>333630954
>The heart has wings
>I've taken the leap
>Now its your turn!
fuck man, that got me
>>333631338
Wasn't he saying En gaurde?
Either makes sense but
>>333625586
>>333626178
No I agree, the PSP version definitely feels easier. I can totally destroy the PSP version while the PS2 version kicked my teeth in. The PSP version also has thing thing where the cone turns orange when you're doing it right and starts going blue if it's about to go off the line, so you can tell when you're about to fuck up.

>>333631445
Really. Never heard En Garde. Interesting but yeah you're right.
>>333624543
I didn't really like the fact you abandon the girl who actually followed and shaped your improvement as a person to score that chick down on earth that you had a crush on and never really saw you as anything more than a friend till you became more assertive in the end. Also both girls look the same for some reason.
I love any threads about rhythm games, everyone's always really helpful and friendly and clearly just enjoy talking about the genre. Probably the best part of /v/.
>>333631859
Kira knew you had different destinies and could never be together. She wanted what's best for U-1 and he wanted the Earth chick.
anyone got any tips for PS2 Master's play? The line seems really sensitive
>>333624543
GO HOME ZOWIE
I HATE YOU ZOWIE
>>333632080
Git gud.
But seriously, it's such a simple mechanic that there isn't really any tips. Keep your thumb dry and make sure your controller is new.
>>333632242
ah, gotcha.
Not sure I have a newer controller, might have to look
>>333630620
its even better right before that
>Really I did it? I guess I'm not so pathetic after all!
>Pathetic? No, you're perfect!
>>333630303
>>333632479
I've never seen a more positive game. I know it's cheesy and all but it's nice to see a game be so genuinely sincere.
>>333624543
>>333624543
Thanks OP. You reminded me of when games weren't about money but about fun. I miss these times.
I've always wondered something about Rhythm games.
Is the Music built around the game or is the Game built around the Music? which one is developed first?
Asking for a friend who's making a rhythm game. Its me. I'm my only friend.
>>333632529
>this part
>>333632556
Typically it's music first. Developing the system is hard but once you do it's relatively easy to translate the music into gameplay notes.
Source: I've talked with people who work for Bemani at conventions.
>>333632529
git gud. I hated this part until I put the effort to change my hand.
>>333632529
>Not Gud enough to get to sanbone on Master's Play
Goddamnit I'm stuck onFlying O
>>333632808
just wait till you get to Mojo King Bee
>master's play
>that stage where Ben-K chases you through space
>>333629530
So glad he's back with his own show.
>>333632556
I think for story based rhythm games like Parappa and Gitaroo man, the game is built first, or at least the characters and the concepts.
Then they probably decide what sort of style of music fits each 'battle' so to speak and build a song around that.
Parappa is a bit literal with it compared to other games. (Since it's a sort of Simon says rap battle about the situation)
For other games, it could be the other way round. But there definitely would be a system conceptualised first, with some basic rhythm tunes to test the engine, then some license/written songs to test.
Then they'd probably fine-tune the UI and engine, then build a set list and try to get those songs in there, changing it over time and constantly testing it and all the features.
>we will never again see the golden age of PS2 rhythm games
>>333632952
VoiDDD is easy.
>>333632529
This is one part i'll never get why so many niggers think this part is so bad. Just use two hands or lrn2quickly smash the buttons with the sides of your fingers.
If you've gotten that far, unless you inheriited the save from a fucking sibling you should've figured that out long ago. Particularly during the fucking Shark part that's an unholy ALL DEFENSE sequence.
Koei truly has the game industry's best guitarists, they should let them do another one.
>>333635927
It's not hard to pass, it's just hard to A Rank.
>>333636037
HDTVs suck for rhythm games unless the entire system is built to compensate.
>>333630663
>a ranks
>not even s rank
yes, there is an s rank
>>333637136
isn't that reserved for perfects only?
>>333637251
not only can you miss a single note, you have to get a higher score than an a rank.
which means all of your hits have to be Good or Great, and never just Ok
>>333629530
Who is this? I would like to view more of his work.
>>333624543
>yfw the shark level
>>333639401

>go back to it one day

>>333639510
The only times I've lost to Zowie is when PPSSPP couldn't run the game properly and i was literally playing the game out of sync with distorted audio.
And I only failed on the one part just before the end.

This a good starting point for someone who has never played a rhythm game before? Interested from the art, looks really goofy and fun. Gitaroo man's design feels like it should come off as "over designed" but doesn't.
>>333638871
Kyle Bosman. He worked for gametrailers.com before they shut down. Don't know if all the old episodes are still there. He just started doing his own thing on youtube. Currently only one episode in:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWJx2dcNSDI
>>333641682
It's probably a bad starting point for rhythm games because it's the best one and there wont be any reason to play any other afterwards.Except maybe Elite Beat Agents
>>333642926
>EBA
>Not Osu! Tatake! OUENDAN!
Pleb.
>>333643340

really?
>>333644843
EBA had like 2 good stages and Jump Jack Flash was a worse ending than Ready Steady Go.
>>333624938
what happened
>>333625586
PS2 version has the option to turn the controller on its side, which makes it a lot easier to use both hands for the defence segments
Also the english version of Flying O's song sounds kind of shitty
>>333631859
The story is a big metaphor for his life, how he faced his fears and became someone he can be proud to be with his guitar and his music, that's why zowie looks like his bully.
>no sequel ever
>>333630846
honestly I think it would be pretty hard to beat Sanbone Trio on Master and not get an A
You miss like 10 notes and you're dead
>>333646571
isn't missing 10 notes and dying the norm for Master Play?
>>333632529
I can do that shit with my eyes closed
it's the guitar parts in that song that are killer
>>333646689
More like missing 5.
>>333646481
How would a sequel work?
U-1 got all the gitaroos and I assume Zowie died in space. Then again its not like the story was super vital
>>333647683
Different characters, different story. Just same concept.
>>333645481
gotta disagree with you, m8.
