Space Pirate Trainers has sold 16k copies.

Hover Junkers has sold 3k.

This shit is deader than dead, nobody will develop VR games with these kinds of sales figure... Did they just sell no Vives? Or maybe they have only delivered a tiny number of them?

You need to pay $800 USD for the Vive. Your PC needs to be able to actually handle VR output. And you need to clear out an entire room to use it properly.

Just so you can play some shitty Early Access Wii games.

Honestly, I'd be pissed if it didn't bomb.
>>
>>333604982
Can i play Eve Valkyrie without one of those goggles?
>>
so, let me get this straight; nobody liked wagglan, nobody liked kinect, and everybody wants to play videogames using thier xbox controller or a keyboard+mouse, so the corporations peddling their $800 consumer-grade VR gear decided to release it while the only software available is a hideous crossbreed betwixt wagglan and kinect?

That doesn't seem like a very good idea.
>>
>>333605827
False analogy.
>>
>>333605827
I still use the 3D option on my TV. Was it worth buying at launch? No. But seeing as the Vive is more: A headset with tracking for desktop gaming, silly sticks for movement games, a device to watch movies and shows on, porn, waifu sims, there are already headsets used in hospitals. Whereas a 3D TV is just a.. TV with 3D. See the difference ?
>>
I'm just waiting 2-4 years until it becomes cheaper and that treadmill you can run around on becomes available (might already be, I dunno). And when more games come out for it.

Hopefully Bannerlord comes out with a VR patch holy shit, that would be fucking amazing.

I'm also gonna play a bunch of h-games with VR.

It is an argument. Just because I could be doing something "for free", doesnt mean I will.
It isnt free, its a waste of time, that could be spent doing other things.

As in, I could take a walk through the park, its free, but I'd rather post on 4chan instead.
And I own hundreds of games, but there are some that I dont play, despite there being no cost associated with me playing them.
>>
Guys hear me out.
I don't get the whole motion control thing, why not just buy an oculus or whatever and use a controller for games that are just kick ass first person games. Not these shitty Wii tier games.
Elite Dangerous
Modded Skyrim
Any good FPS
Any good walking sim like the forest or any of those survival type games.
Why do we need this motion gimmick.
Has anybody played any normal real games with something like an occulus.
Shit like Metro last light or any racing game, why do people shit on VR when you can play these kind of big budget awesome games with head tracking and immersion.
Why is that such a bad thing.
Motion controls look like it still sucks ass but my other points I still ask, I don't own this shit so maybe I'm missing something?
Please enlighten me.

so check this out.
in vive VR you are actually grabbing something in a virtual space, it will look to you as if you are grabbing something off the floor.
while with the wii at best it looked like you were grabbing for nothing in thin air.
you are INSIDE the game basically.
it's still gimmicky, sure. but it also offers a shitton of new possibilitys that weren't there before.
to you it won't look like you are waggling the wii remote while looking at a TV screen.
to you it will look like you are actually swinging the sword with your own hands (granted it's still missing the weight and the feedback) but it will be quite realistic.
>>
>>333606653
I'm not defending them at all, but, if you can afford a VR capable PC plus a VR headset, I think the 40 bucks price tag for games is hardly a problem.

>>
>>333606749

before long it's minigames and shovelware because control schemes only function as abstractions - there's no way I can keep up with the superhuman movements of almost any videogame character and i'm not even a fat schlub like 70% of americans.
>>

>>
>>333610297
Welp you just proved that you're a retarded meme poster.
>>
>>333610447
let's take a simple bow and arrow game for example.
with the wii you try to replicate the bow and arrow movements in front of your TV screen and then try to hit a target that is also somewhere on that TV screen.
with the vive. the bow will be where your hand would be if you would be holding a bow in real life.
and the target might be behind you so you turn around look at the target (not at the screen with the target) and aim your shot at that target (again you don't aim at a screen but at an object within the 3D game world)
comparing VR to Kinect/Wii is underselling VR by a lot.
>>
>>333609882
Any game where the character walks around (except for those where you are constricted to a tiny area that is tracked by the system) is basically forbidden territory, it creates huge amounts of nausea.

This is why VR FPS games are always shooting galleries. People would just vomit if they played a traditional FPS. Not to mention that in FPS games, Skyrim, etc. targeting and vision are not separated. So you'd have to look at the point where you want to shoot. Shit's retarded.

3D TVs didn't add anything new to videogames.
the VR headsets headtracking adds a new way of controlling a camera in a videogame.
