why /v/ is against denuvo drm?
>>
if you have to ask, you'll never know

Because the majority here are unemployed poorfags
>>
What is with this anti-piracy psy-op lately?

because every denuvo thread gets 200+ replies

I'm against it because anything that gets posted on /v/ so often has to be shit. /v/ only harps on about absolute trash after all. Quality is thrown into a ditch and left to rot.

On one hand I am against it, and on the other I'm not. I haven't pirated a game in almost a decade.

The reason I am against it is as a paying customer I've had terrible experiences with DRM in the past. The shit DRM that came with the physical copy Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on PC didn't work with any OS after Windows XP. Ubisoft's solution for this was to tell their *PAYING CUSTOMERS* to either buy the game again from Steam, or to crack it.
Another example would be that after the death of GFWL, I'm now unable to play GTA IV without an enormous host of issues, including but not limited to: inability to save games, frequent crashing, and often the executable just flat out refusing to run.
I am a paying customer and DRM has negatively affected me, while pirates have a superior experience.

But the reason I'm not against Denuvo is now devs will have no exceuse for their terrible sales figures and will have to own up to the fact that their game is shit. Can't blame pirates anymore.
>>
>>333597073
Maybe because it's pointless ?
>>
>>333597480
>devs will have no exceuse for their terrible sales figures

Nah they will blame the patriarchy now, or the entitled gamer
>>
>>333597073

Against ?

Nah, we supported this DRM.

Its actually makes PirateCucks cry for a year, like starforce.
>>
>>333597170

Denuvo is still Uncrackable since September 2015 & many games since then using that Drm
>>
Because it wrecked my three SSDs and they say I lied and its not true.
>>
>>333597073
If it truly doesn't fuck with your hard drive, spy on your or does other evil stuff strictly outside of preventing access to the game I am totally okay with it.

My major concern outside of what I listed is like if you want to play a game 10 years later and the DRM wont work because it needs to connect to servers or something.

So I think the best way to do it is, have the game DRM protected for the first couple of years of its life (games make most sales close to release anyway) and then remove DRM so you never run into the game being obsoleted

>Le Denuvo causes bad performance meme

Why do the majority of games using Denuvo run with no problems then?

FIFA 16

Battlefield Hardline

Star Wars Battlefront

Need for Speed

Unravel

Adrift

Can't find benchmarks but here is a 3hr stream

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4hB_x1xdAQ

Plants vs Zombies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJCOjo8ei-4

That leaves

Far Cry Primal - Ubisoft game with bad performance and bugs... What a surprise.

Dragon Age Inquisition - It doesn't run that bad and all problems on the PC version are also in the console version which doesn't even have Denuvo.

JUST Cause 3 - Shitty port, also has bad performance on console.

Hitman - shitty port performance has improved with patches.

Anno 2055 - Another Ubisoft game, say no more.

Batman AK - A shitty outsources port.

Out of the 18 games that use Denuvo only 6 have performance issues and several of which are just shitty ports.

Well said. I got the GTAIV problem too and couldn't believe back then with people recomending to use a crack to run it.
>>

Denuvo is not a program that runs just once, it's continuosly "checking". The thing is, no matter what, this does suck CPU power, thus it does affect performance in a bad way, no matter what. It's simple logic, it adds more tasks to an already task-heavy program, and games are the biggest programs that runs on any system.
>>
>>333600437
Just look at all those enormously successful games. Sold in millions, at the top of all charts and dozens of GOTY awards. Denuvo have saved the gaming industry!

I notice some of the recent games being released with Denuvo hardly get any discussion of any kind.

God what a faggot. Please read >>333601223

If there are games that runs with no problems would be probably games that doesn't use much resources. But Denuvo DOES USE CPU POWER adding tasks in a regular and constant way, and this DOES AFFECT PERFORMANCE negatively. Stop defending Denuvo like it would be the perfect tampon because it isn't. Next time, if you notice a sudden fps drop while playing, that's probably Denuvo "checking" things.
>>
Daily reminder they aren't porting the weebshit on PC at day one, therefore making the whole thing absolutely meaningless. Don't stop piracy if it doesn't bring ANY benefit.
>>

>B-b-b-but this

Stay desperate as fuck pirate kek.
>>
>>333601475
This desu. All the games that use Denuvo are not crap but definitely not as good as they claim to be. In fact, from now on, if i see a game using Denuvo, i'll raise an eyebrow.

Because people are getting tired of you posting denuvo threads every single day?
>>
>>333601223
I'm a software dev and its a huge stretch to say that some DRM is using so much CPU it affects your game.

Unless you compare the same game with and without denuvo its not fair to say there's a significant impact. "Continously checking" might be a network request every few seconds which is completely trivial compared to the work the game has to do to run.
>>
As a completely self-centered individual, I don't care if a company is losing money from piracy or if some stranger I'll never have a meaningful interaction with plays a game I bought for free. I just want the games I buy to run at peak efficiency on my computer, so I'm against any DRM that could undermine that.

Because games should be free. There's no reason to pay, that's just greedy publishers being huge jews. Only suckers buy games (on console) to fund the PC free release for those of us with superior intellect.

I don't see a single reason to want it in your games, unless you're a publisher shill or you're trolling.
