X is great, but you'll see mixed reviews on x-2. I would personally start with 7 as it's the easiest to get into, but X isn't a bad starting spot either.
Depends on what you want. X and XIII are the most story-driven games of the series. There's lots of cut scenes. Gameplay-wise there's better choices.
