It was a lot of fun in my opinion. Digivolving isn't a hassle, they make grinding take seconds end game, hard mode is legitimately challenging, there's a lot of side quests and thanks to the free DLC that was released a decent enough post-game. They hit the majority of the high notes with the digimon included as well. Only issue is that the translation is bad and online hardly works, but I got 90 hours out of my first playthrough and I'm working on my NG+ file right now since I enjoyed it so much.

I mainly run into Japanese people and they push my shit in. Sequel needs to be more balanced, but I liked the idea of support skills and I wish they brought back the skill feature from Dawn/Dusk where you got bonuses for stacking your digimon correctly from you main and sub parties.

It's the only digimon game I've played, but I thought it was really damn good. The story was surprisingly decent and the characters are all likeable. The dungeons are all kind of samey but you're never in them for too long of a stretch to become a problem. The combat is standard fare but the digivolving system leaves for quite a bit of flexibility to craft your party, which can get quite addicting. There are a ton of (simple) side quests as well.
I do have a few gripes. Some evolutions require you to evolve and devolve the previous form until you meet the requirements for the new evolution, which leads to quite a bit of unnecessary grinding. The game is also too easy, even on hard mode. Finally, the localization is spotty, with some downright nonsensical dialog exchanges every once in a while. Despite those it's still a good game overall. Just a tad unpolished.
