I finally beat Xenoblade Chronicles!

I bought X and installed the data packs a while ago, so I'm going to start playing that soon!
Will I like it? Love it? Is there anything vital I should know? Was granting Mira's inhabitants free will a mistake?

That's sort of the impression I got from elsewhere.
I really just wanted to see what pepole here thought of it, because I'm coming into it late and sort of missed when it was blowing up.
I beat it a couple days ago. The final few hours were a roller coaster of emotions and everything got intense
I liked how the story went from a revenge plot to "we have to kill god"
I'm about to get back into X as well. I found the midget rat people, then stopped playing so I could finish XC first

I've already been spoiled on one or two of the big plot reveals since before it even came to the west, and it's kind of neat sounding but certainly nowhere near as grand or unique. Plus a blank slate main character isn't as interesting as a player-created no-name, and Tatsu doesn't seem like a worthy follow-up to the fucking heropon.
But the scale and the mechs and the depth added to the battle system.. I'd rather it not be a tradeoff at all, but it seems like it's a good tradeoff.
X is nothing like XBC so don't expect more of the same. I still think it's really fucking good though

The gameplay is definitely better, though it doesn't have some of the finer things XBC had that I miss (like inactive party members still getting EXP, or being able to change the time of day anywhere you want). The story isn't as interesting, but I think the gameplay, world, etc. made up for it.

Gameplay is better, if a bit convoluted. Story isn't that good though, and I didn't really care for most of the characters either. It was kind of a let down in that department. It's worth a play through at least. Also, be prepared to have the same 3 characters fill out 3/4 slots for your party for a lot of things while the 4th character is pretty much a lifeless doll.

Riki was a fucking blight on the game and you should be stoned to death for liking him. All of the characters in Xenoblade were obnoxious and awful.
