Just start playing a lot, get to know what happens when you build buildings and start getting used to all the mechanics. Thats pretty much the only thing that helped me. Good luck though anon, I still have fun playing this game after a couple hundred of hours, so I hope you will too

The game i'm playing is the greeks, i have 4 settlements i have taking over stockholme and ogawanda (Probably wrong...), stokholme is a puppet and ogawanda is a annex building a courthouse though scouts looking aroud napolean and he's going to be a bitch i think... I think I'd like it if you had literacy spread kind of like religion spreads with libraries and such giving literacy pressure.
With illiterate pops giving little to no science, literate pops giving 1, maybe another step above giving more.
When you found or capture a city, switch it to food until you have 10 pop, then go full production. Also don't forget to lock great person tiles and keep one or two niggas workin at public school or uni or whatever to gain science and great scientist points

Play Civ 4

Go diplo victory friend. Get Autocracy in the Industrial Era, and beeline for the Gunboat Diplomacy tenet. It will allow you to intimidate city states fifty percent easier, and when they're intimidated, you get 6 influence per turn with them. This will help you secure delegates (you get extra delegates for every city state ally you have eventually)
because you're greece, that 6 influence per turn gets doubled to 12.
