I played an unpatched version back when the game came out and it was impossible to save during the entire final stage of the game. It would crash if you tried to reload. Basically you had to finish the game without saving.

Protips:
>The game is programmed to save the last 5 vehicles you used, have more than that and they can vanish
>Skills level up Elder Scrolls style - the more you use them, the better your aim/carry weight is
>Upping character level doesn't do anything except unlock higher quality weapons and upgrade parts in shops
>The fastest way to level up is to blow up helicopters, +2000 exp for each.

Wasted potential. It was supposed to be Deus Ex meets Far Cry, but the devs probably ran out of money and/or time. It's starred by Arnold Vosloo, the same guy who played Mummy in those mummy movies, and that's pretty darn cool.
