Just started Fatal Frame 1. Controls are clunky and everything is so pale and grainy I can barely see shit. Is it worth the struggle or should I skip to 2 or 3?

I just finished King's Field 4 today. All of the games in this series are really great.
Still trying to find a good game to emulate on my phone. All games are shit except DS touchscreen games.
I asked emugen but got no replies so I'll ask here
On Dolphin netplay when I set myself as player 1 the game runs fine (most of the time), but when I set myself to player 2, 3 or 4, it just hangs at a black screen when it loads. Could anyone help? I also tried changing the dolphin version and nothing changed

Most emulators have increased native resolution options. It's not exclusive to PPSSPP. Even Mednafen PSX has it now.

I enjoyed the first King's Field a lot, too. They were all fantastic, but Shadow Tower really stuck out to me as something special. It felt so much more dangerous than the King's Field games because healing items were finite and your weapons broke at an alarming rate. I'd recommend playing it in between King's Field 3 and 4.

Honestly, the game emulates terribly. If you knock the resolution above native you get a shit ton of over bloom and end up is ghosts and colors being blown out from light sources. Luckily you can still up some AA on it, but its still poor.

Definitely, the first Shadow Tower is great, I'd recommend it to anyone who likes the King's Field series. I still think it's Fromsoft's best work. I've heard good things about Abyss too, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't confirm anything.

The first King's Field is a great introduction to the series. The controls and pacing are consistent with the rest of the series, and the premise is nice and simple. It's a little narrow in scope compared the others, but it's still very solid. Make sure you get the fan translation of King's Field 1, and not the US release of King's Field 1 which was just King's Field 2 relabeled as 1.

Playing a nice romhack of GS2. It's pretty damn hard, so I wonder every now and then if the dude made a bunch mistakes. I mean, the Air's Rock Mimic is absolutely unbeatable when you first get to it. His GS1 romhack was perfect, too.

Last thing I emulated was Solatorobo. Beat it after a few days of playing off and on. Made me want to play more games with non-human characters, but my vision is jaded from being on 4chan way too long. Everything else I've got, I've already beaten.

Can someone explain to me why sometimes my ds emulator tuns games perfectly, like 100% no frame drops.
And other times when I restart my pc its so slow its unplayable?
When it's so slow I just restart and boom. Fast as fuck, but sometimes when I start my pc its slow as fuck.
I don't change any settings.
I notice the same things happen with a few other games too.

last time I checked the AMD FX processors were awful for emulation because of their low IPC, which matters far more in emulation than regular games. But that was a while ago, and MGS2 could just be a bad game for emulation. There are some that just don't work at all.

Rebalances everything, stats, psynergy and all, and the equipment. Nerfed summon rushing; 2+ djinn summons are locked behind a turn count (2 turns for 3 djinn summons, etc.) Psynergy damage scales with max pp, so casters classes have stronger spells than warrior classes. Amongst other stuff. First version came out early last year, and it's still updating.
Bosses can be real challenging. I had to resort to the cheapest tactic to beat Deadbeard. Toadonpa/Hydros Statue was pretty crazy, too.

Many of those ps2 games in pic-related are regarded as "hidden gems" and "classics" here, but they're really a bulk of clunky shit compared to the stuff coming out now. you're just too fucking blind to see and have no foresight for the future.

Honestly, it's much better than emulation will EVER get you. The only people deep in emulation, I feel, are young people that never experienced owning or playing any of the consoles when they were around, so they couldn't give a shit about accuracy and nostalgia.
But these type of people, I feel, are disrespectful and detrimental to the medium. It doesn't feel like they car when they emulate. Everything is free for them, everything is whimsically at their fingertips, and they end up barely touching the stuff that's available to them. They don't nearly seem as invested, and if they don't intend on dishing hundreds of dollars on physical original items they've EMULATED, then they just simply don't care enough to begin with, so they might as well abandon the hobby.

I was trying to play this but I don't really get the combat. It seems that I can't hit a monster unless i'm right up on their face, which means they can hit me too, and when I try to back away after attacking I just slash at the air beacuse the animation is so slow. The only way I found to kill enemies is to back away until they stop and slowly turn around, like a primitive form of backstab fishing.
What am I doing wrong? I wanna get into this game, it seems interesting.

Y'know, I think they have done a full remake of the game called forbidden memories II, as far as I'm aware that one promises a new story entirely, new cards and well, a completely different thing following the same kinda battle system.

ePSXe is okay. I personally use it along with PCSXR. Just be sure to tonker with the settings and use plugins that suit your needs. I can upload some if need be as well as bios (spch1001.bin is literally all youd need but im a whore and have so many to pick from for no reason)

almost everything i throw at pcsx2 runs pretty good. tweaking is usually changing between software/hardware renderer depending if the game doesn't like the hardware one, adjusting resolution/af and stuff to fit performance for what your comp can handle.
