Useful tips or websites for civilisation 5? It doesn't have a general so I am asking you guys, about to start playing for the first time. I bought the complete edition so I have all the mods.

DLC* Not mods

The easiest way to win is to build 2-3 cities and go for science victory
>>
>>333429830
Cool, what civs would be good for that?
>>
Get pottery ASAP so you can at least start a pantheon.
>>
>>333429953
Korea is probably the best. Generate great scientists, use them to improve your tiles then get the freedom policy that doubles their yield.
>>
>>333429953
Korea.
>>
>>333429953
poland allow policy saving rush science max out science policy with all them saved policies fuck shit up
>>
Okay about to start my first game, what difficulty AI should I go with? Are the lowest ones too easy? And what settings/map do you guys use.
>>
>>333431274
I usually play on Prince difficulty, 6-8 players, standard size, quick pace. Turn on raging barbarians in the advanced options if I feel like having more combat in the early game.
>>
>>333428029
So, when is CIV 6 launching? I've been playing V for like 6 years already.

If you type your civ + guide on Google you'll find plenty of ressources.

The trick to winning is dealing with your AI enemies.
You don't have to fight.
If you see an asshole, you can ask him to fight a weaker Civ.

Science Civs are prime targets to send people like Atilla or Genghis after.
Scoop up luxury resources and then pay them with some to go attack them.

Remember that you only need 1 Luxury to get the happiness from it.
If you have like 3 Silver or something, 2 is wasted.
Sell the other 2.

Trade caravans are super good.

Make a scout early on to find bonuses.
They're really good
>>
>>333433830
What? Increasing difficulty just gives the AI advantages? Thats pretty stupid they should just make better decisions
>>
>>333434320
They do get more aggressive on a whole, but yeah, Civ's biggest weakness is retarded AI/
Always has been.
>>
>>333428029

Easiest is to go patronage, pay city states so they're your allies and then get elected as UN world leader.

Not as fun, but makes for an easy win.
>>
>>333434442
Seems like plain laziness on behalf of the devs instead of improving the AI they give them a blanket advantage. Oh well I think I got a good start, 2 luxuries and some deer and sheep.
>>
>>333434637
Build your city next to a mountain for a science boost in mid-game, if you're looking for a scientific victory.

Also there are mods that 'improve' AI on civfanatics.
>>
>>333434637
It's really hard to make a strategy AI that seems human.
All the games pretty much do it that way
Increase AI bonuses
Make them more aggressive
>>
>>333434637
writing balanced and good AI is difficult
>>
Anyone tried the Community Balanced Patch? It's a whole new game, they say.
>>
Korea's passive says: receive a tech boost each time a scientific building/wonder is built in the Korean capital. Does this mean a scientific wonder or any wonder

I don't play to win for the most part, I just like maxing the civs and seeing how all the AI interacts.

Or doing theme games with things like Elder Scrolls civs

got half way through a game as the shoshone

new game

Quick addendum to what he said

Don't put scouts on auto explore, they will most certainly always miss bonuses and waste time on rougher terrains and cross enemy borders if you're not watching over them, it's better if you explore by yourself

Higher levels you must be a war monger to win
>>
>>333437054
How long have you been playing?
I must admit even after only a dozen games, all games look the same to me.

I guess I should try mods. Another game that tempted me was Europa Universalis 4, but looks more complex.

Do i make friends?
>>
>>333437551
They will only be friends if you are militarily stronger than them and even if you are they still randomly go to war on you.
>>
>>333437669
That's a bit more subtle.

Scout, scout, granary/monument (order depending on whether you can get pottery quickly) is generally the default start for building ques. Always easier to capture your first worker from a CS than to build one manually, but if you can't because of an awful start, that'll be the fourth thing you're building.
