Have you converted to "digital games" yet, anon?

You don't go out and buy or order physical copies anymore, do you?

>>
last physical game I bought was around 2010 or so I forget because there was no digital copy for it

recall it was around then that Sony enforced all devs to have a digital copy for their games (while physical is optional), so I made a full switch then
>>
>>333415364
Why would I want to download 40gigs worth of data? That's not including patches either. Why do you not want physical copies?
>>
>>333415364
I only buy digital if they are hugely discounted from physical. I should not be paying full retail price for an item with no packaging, that I have no control over, and is not being sold through any other retail.

>buy physical copy of PC game
>there's only 18MB of data on the dvd
>it launches a downloader for 70GB of data
>>
>>333415798
I want this.
>>
>>333415707
The packaging argument is stupid, the real argument is that you're buying direct from source instead of a 3rd party retailer and yet there's no savings.
>>
I just buy whichever's cheapest. If on console then it's almost always physical. On PC it can be either, mostly digital though (I do like a physical collection though)
>>
>>333415364
Not gonna go digital until digital is the only option.

I have a physical collection, so I'd like to continue with it since digital always has the potential to just stop being supported then you don't have access to your games. It's unlikely, but in the future it will no doubt happen.
>>
I only get digital if there's a good deal or I'm buying pc games. I prefer physical.
>>
i buy games if its the first build of dark souls or something

like i have the first build of bloodborne so i can dupe
>>
>>333415364
physical is the only reason I even have consoles.
>>
>>333415707
Same here, physical games have a resale value, if somethings great I'll keep it but I'm not one for collecting mass produced pieces of plastic.

>You don't go out and buy
That is correct.
>>
>>333415364
I went digital cause in Canada digital prices are the same as the US price for PSN. Digimon for example is $60 on PSN and $80+tax for physical.
>>
I like having peace of mind that I always have it
I don't like the idea of 'renting' games
>>
> buy physical game
> can resell later on

> buy digital game
> cannot resell
>>
>>333415364
having the ability to resell games is literally too good.
>>
>>333415364

i get digital games for pc and 3DS mostly because both of them have enough memory for me to rely on solely digital games

my wii u especially has a tiny amount of storage memory compared to how big games are, so i just don't even consider it an option. i do the same for my ps4 even though i'm pretty sure its got a slightly larger hard drive, but probably still not big enough to merit me only getting digital games for all future purchases
>>
They aren't any cheaper, so no.

Plus there aren't any discounts on new games in digital shops like there are for Amazon Prime members or Best Buy.

Only reason I'd buy digital is because something is on sale or it's digital only.
>>
>>333415364
Ownership.
>>
>>333415364
is there any reason why digital games are the same price as physical? Surely digital games are cheaper to distribute plus they cannot be resold, only retard would go all digital if they have the option of both.
>>
I buy physical but I throw away the boxes and manuals and just stack the discs up like coins. Saves so much space and the plastic gets recycled which helps the environment
>>
>>333415667
Considering you have to install games anyway disc or not that's a shitty argument. Digital sucks ass though. It's a chore to search for my game I want to play and I wanna feel like I actually bought something instead of full price for code I don't own. Faggots are getting conned paying for markup. Same price for both.
>>
>>333415364
You have to be retarded to buy overpriced bits.
So you either buy a physical copy or a key from a shady website.

Digital is allways more expensive at launch.
If you buy new game buy physical.
If you buy later buy digital on sale.

>>

this.
>>
I think going all digital is the best way to tell the industry it's okay, and in due time they'll lower the prices of digital games as physicals become more scarce / less mass produced.

I welcome this future, join it.
>>
Depends if it's digital only or the games have a huge discount, EU PSN is usually alright in terms of discounts.
>>
>>333417049
I wonder who is behind this post.
>>
>>333416356
The PS4 makes you install physical games because otherwise things would take obscene amounts of time to load, but at least they usually install within a minute.

Jesus Christ on a bicycle Xbone games take three or four hours to install from disc.

>thought about getting stuff on the MGS sale last week because I finally played MGS1 and holy shit it's good
>find out I can just get a copy of the Legacy Collection on eBay for $23

Digital master race indeed.
>>
>>333417550
I can't even tell if its installing from the disc or installing updates due to their god awful app management bs. No download speeds, they don't show amount downloaded or total either. So much fun wondering what i'm waiting on for 3 hours will I stare at a game installing.

On the Vita I go digitally, but not because I like it. I hate it in fact.
>>
>>333415364
Still do physical where possible. Physical goodies are nice.

OBVIOUS SHILL THREAD DON'T FALL FOR IT BROS.

I LOVE MY PHYSICAL COPIES JUST FINE AND SO SHOULD YOU.

THERE IS NOTHING MORE SATISFYING THAN OPENING A GAME CASE FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME AND ADDING IT TO YOUR HUMBLE AND GROWING COLLECTION.

PLUS, THEY MAKE GREAT DECORATIONS NEAR YOUR CONSOLE.

Who /REAL/ here?

I buy digital since me and my friend like to share. Only time I buy physical is if it's a series I really like, I go all out for the special limited edition or whatever the fuck. For the most part, I don't care though. Also, digital is always the way to go for handheld. I open up my 3DS or turn on my Vita and all my games are there without carrying around a bunch of tiny carts that could get lost.
>>
>>333415364
no, and i never will
i dont trust the sony/steam/whatever jew to replace my digital shit if something fucks up
>>
>>333415364
Yes, people still like having physical objects that they buy. It's not the year 3000. Grow up, stop shitposting.

Digital games are often more expensive, less convenient when they're being uninstalled and reinstalled (which does happen for space), and can't be sold on if they turn out to be a stinker. So what is the benefit exactly?
>>
I only buy digital games for my PS3 because the bluray drive is loud as fuck and sony is a retarded company that wont let me install the games normally. And I'm not making the mistake of getting a non jailbreakable sony console with the ps4, worst case scenario the jailbreak never comes so I'll just pick a brazilian'd one with all the worthwhile games installed. Fuck em
>>
>>333415364
It's sad. The only reason I buy digital is because I'm more likely to sell my games sooner if they are physical.
>>
>>333421391
Here in Canucklestan, digital is usually 20$ cheaper.
Physical copies are pushing 79.99
Fuuug
>>
>>333422593
In the UK a retail release is normally £40, digital is £55. I never buy on release but it's still more

I do buy physical every now and then. Mainly console games with local multiplayer such as fighting games. Easier to bring to a buddy's.

There is no sales tax on online purchases here, so sometimes I'll get digital to save $5 on tax or more if it's on discount. I still don't like digital though.
>>
Pretty much 100% digital or pirated for me. Got over needing tacky shelf ornaments adorning my house a long time ago.
>>
>>333415956

If PSN goes down, it'll be impossible to get patches or DLC, so your discs will essentially just be worthless incomplete buggy non-definitive versions. The preservation argument doesn't work.
>>
>>333425121
If Steam goes down, where do I get my 200+ games? Will Lord Gabe N send me all my games on physical format?
>>
>>333421391
>Digital games are often more expensive

Digital games don't get sales taxed, so no.
>>
I only buy digital games if they're indie or on sale.

If not, I'll get a used physical copy because I'm a massive jew.
>>
>>333425295

They say that they'll patch out all the Steam DRM in the event of them going under. They say.
>>
>>333421391
>less convenient when they're being uninstalled and reinstalled (which does happen for space)

I have a 2TB HDD in my PS4 and so should anyone who is serious about gaming.
>>
>>333425368
Don't certain states impose digital taxes? That's why amazon pulled out of that one state right? Shit, nintendo sure as fuck charges me tax when I buy digital shit on the 3ds.
>>
>>333425368
Here in bongland they do.

For example, Dark Souls 3 costs 40 quiddly widdlies physical and 50 digital.

AND don't even get me started on Nintendo games, they cost almost double digital.
>>
>>333425720

In Cali we get 8.5% physical sales tax and zero digital tax.
>>
>>333415364
Because its foolish to trust Sony with digital licenses. I already can't download shadow of colossus or Scott pilgrim. Fuck digital. Meanwhile I got witcher 2 from Microsoft despite not having gold or logged in for years.
