The Uncovered trailer, specially in the Stand By Me part of it, displayed a lot of colorful environments, desertic, dark-brownish with hueg crystals, green valleys with water streams (those scenes with Noct riding the chicobo, he looked out of place wearing all black in such colorful places), venetian towns, oriental street market...

In the gameinformer footage there is a short scene about them driving in their car with a meter above them that shows the distance till they reach Caem.
Though it only says start it most likely shows the distance between the gas station shown in Brotherhood and Caem.
Seems to take roughly 2-3 minutes to get there. Now if you had the location of the two places on the map you could messure how large the map really is.
