It did seem to do its job for budget cuts. The problem with VR now is the fact that almost every game is shovelware produced by people who want to be one of the first VR games out so that people are more likely to buy their otherwise trash game. I still think VR has potential, but only if developers actually try to use that potential. If not, VR is going to end up like that motion detector by microsoft for the xbox.

Why don't they just take ANY decent fucking FPS and port it to VR? No bullshit waggle. Sit in your fucking chair, put on your display, normal M&K and shoot some niggas in decent 3D perspective.

Jesus, if I wanted a "immersive & lifelike" wagglin' experience, I would have bought a Wii 10 years ago, and then proceeded to kill myself for wanting to waggle anything that isn't my dick.

That device doesn't possess the force necessary to jerk you off with a fleshlight.
Notice how you have yet to see a single nip actually using these devices for real?

This "VR Waifu Porn" shit is just a pipedream that will end in vaporware.
>>
>>333390328
Will took his VR set off, it was trying to map his "body" as he put the controllers down and removed the headset.

>>
>>333387486
Motion sickness prevents that from working well. Sitting when your character stands is odd, rotating via mouse is instapuke.
The most practical scheme for FPS is stand up and use the motion controllers as a gun. Ideally, you could even have an addon that's shaped like a rifle.

So basically you stand, aim and turn using your physical body and move around with the touchpad. The touchpad/stick locomotion is suboptimal but less shitty than teleporting.

How hard can it be to make something immersive that makes me escape reality.
>>
>>333391047
I don't get motion sickness.
The point is I want to use a VR device to play video games, not to "immersive" myself in gimmicky tech demos.
>>
>>333391047
>>333392619

Additionally, you could easily make the motion tracking work on the VR device for looking and still use the mouse for aiming and orientation. That would take time getting used to, but I have no doubt it would have a lot more lasting appeal than waving around a cheap plastic gun for some gimmicky and input lag plagued and inaccurate as fuck FPS experience.
>>
>>333392619
>I don't get motion sickness.

I just hope the normies finally get into realistic cockpit simulators. They're perfect for VR

another thing I always wanted to do in VR is like an elder scrolls type game where the magic is actually cool. Like you are picking ingredients and doing rituals or hand signs and doing sick magic spells and raping bitches

the sword combat sucks because either you can waggle nonstop or else the animations don't match your body

This is such a shitty strawman. I'm not a big fan or supporter of this tech but it's so fucking new. I'm certain the technology will become more sophisticated the longer it's in the market.
In fact, I'm so certain, that you can screencap this post, and if it hasn't gotten better in five years, someone post it, and I will paypal them five U.S. dollars.
>>
>>333399948
No. But like I just said, I'm in it for the sims.

The Oculus "exclusives" probably aren't gonna last long. I doubt Oculus has enough Facebook cash to throw around for that. It's all timed exclusive bullshit. CCP finally announced that Valkyrie is coming to Vive later this year. Since the damn things are so similar I'm betting it's contractual obligations rather than actual implementation time.
>>
>>333400203
Nobody needs to screencap it, everyone already knows. Even the people playing the game in that webm had plenty of complaints about it. The stealth-ish game they played after it much better, and used the mechanics and shit pretty well.
>>
The hovercraft one was kinda neat but even then it's pretty much laser tag inside a video game

Fucking HTC just sent me the tracking information; AFTER fedex attempted to deliver and failed because I wasn't home.

So I called them asked if it was okay to come pick it up from the depot today and I was told I could. Luckily only 10 minutes later when I'm driving over I get a call (which I answer over speaker phone connected via bluetooth) saying that apparently I'm not authorized to request a hold on the package and I'd need to call HTC and have them request the hold. So I called HTC and asked them to do that and they told me they're not authorized to do that and only the fucking recipient (me) can request a hold through fedex.

Fedex is going to deliver tomorrow since apparently they're fucking allowed to do that but they need me to be home between 11am - 5pm on a fucking weekday in order to accept the delivery. I'm apparently not authorized to let them leave it with security.

What the fuck HTC?

>>333411034

Unfortunately most of the games out right now are just cash grab garbage to scam early adopters out of their money.
Some games like Budget Cuts look like they have potential. I like the idea of having an area to walk around in with the Vive, but movement is still pretty much going to restricted to the teleporting shit you see in most games.
I'm still going to wait a year before I consider it. Well I need to save up for one anyways. Even if it turns out to be shit in year I guess I can spend the money on something else.
