A lot of the combo exe drives are kinda questionable though many have debuffs or a better hittable area (2 person ones are often a line and can AOE), other secondary effects that make them kinda useful anyway in some situations

I did. The first time I played the game.
Then disc 1 end happened, and the cold calculus of limit-grinding hit for all future playthroughs: Aerith in the party is flat-out wasted space for limit development, even when using Matra Magic and the Mythril Mines to quickly nab all the first stages.
She's not worth developing, for obvious reasons. There aren't any fights where she'd be useful, and Great Gospel isn't needed for any disc 1 fights.
Sure, if you're doing a 100% run, use her... And if you're doing a blind run, you'd probably use her anyway, but...
May as well nab Yuffie before Junon and stick her in your party with Tifa. Nanaki and Barret can, as always, suck the fat one because their party-specific quests comes so early it doesn't matter if they're under-leveled and under-equipped compared to your standard party and you can push through with their basic shit with ease.

How about the fact magic is broken as fuck in a fun way?
If you make a mage-Hawke, you can build something that can and will throw out pure AOE spells 100% of their time in combat, even on the highest difficulty setting.
Also, the game has Waifus you specifically cannot romance regardless of gender, which puts it ahead of other DA titles.
It's repetitive as shit thanks to being rushed out the door, but it's probably got the best writing in the trilogy overall.

No matter what, you have to have a mechanic in your party, which means either him or his little sister.
They both have the same stat growths, while he has just a tiny bit more starting attack power that amounts to nothing.
His sister exclusively has:
-Access to the two best pieces of armor in the game, which are equal or superior to the best you can put on dudes, and they're both lighter, so her turns come up faster.
-An attack power buff. It scales to level, so it never becomes outdated.
>A healing skill that can be used in combat. Not even the St Bernard Rescue Dog party member can do that, and he's literally the team's medic.
>Exclusive use of her starting weapon. Even if you remove it, you can't give it to her brother. Oh, and it paralyzes all biological non-outlaw enemies. Even bosses. She can make fucking bosses just stand there until the end of time.
>A more cost effective repair skill. Strangely enough, Skill Masters don't sell it.
This guy has:
-A skill that can lock down mechanical outlaw enemies. But it has a 1% chance of actually working. And pretty much all of them will one-shot him if he's outside of his tank.

Asaga is literally nothing but beam weapons in a game that gets shield-crazy toward the end, and she's still more useful.
Her flak range is shit, so helping thin out missiles doesn't mean much coming from her.
All she's good for is her evade rate, so you can draw aggro towards her, and hope enemies waste a turn trying to kill her.
