The future has arrived.
Whats funny is that both headsets have now launched yet it feels like no more than a thousand or so people have received their consumer orders.
With this and the lack of AAA flagship games to push the platform, Oculus and HTC/Valve seem to be doing their best to fuck the chances of VR taking off.
They had years to get it right and instead most people have reaffirmed their beliefs that VR is an overpriced gimmick with not enough early adopters to tell them otherwise.

You don't need a VR headset unless you want immersion... It depends how important feeling like you're in a world is. Don't buy one unless that's the explicit reason you want one, just a head's up.
If you get an oculus, you can play oculus games and a few vive games. If you get a vive, you won't be able to play quite a few of the oculus games.
Oculus for seated/oculus library/some of vive library
Vive for roomscale/wagglers/the vive library
What do we know about Vive's privacy policy? After the shit they pulled with Oculus I don't want to get burned again

I don't think we'll see any real exclusives for a specific headset. The market is too small for that, and it might be technically difficult to implement such limitations. Just look at the latest news - EVE Valkyrie has announced that Vive support is coming soon and we got Lucky's Tale unofficial port for Vive
