It's fun on NG+. Apparently there is a bug where you don't have a gun so you just have sword + all sword/dash upgrades and 2 hp.
Done the main game, now on the South area in new game+
Definitely my favorite game of the year so far. An extra final area or more bosses would've been nice, but it's excellent as is.
The game crashes a lot for me though, and the update made things worse. Thank god you can remove it

Serious. You start NG+ in a dark outfit with all the sword/dash upgrades. You don't have a gun and the intro where you're saved by the pink drifter is missing so you just start in the house. You only have 2 hp and I don't think you can change costumes either

its really not much different than actual oldschool games. I was fiercly reminded of Doom and DN3D, where you constantly humped walls for secrets.
I particularly like that most of the time you can tell when there's a hidden platform off camera, or a switch that appears barely in view when you go to the edge of the platform
Way too much delay and no i-frames make dashing shit. Shame, would have been fun otherwise but everything is too slow.

Once I saw the list of cut content I really dropped the idea of playing this game.

The best part about 3.33 was showing it to long-time EVA fans and watching their reactions.
Everything else was pretty awful. But hey, the original show and movies were good, and it's not like Rebuild makes them disappear.
I spent an hour and probably developed carpal tunnel trying to get the purple outfit. And it doesn't even look better :|
The whole "too hard" complaint is a legitimate one, just poorly worded. I have completed three pillars so far and basically everything is a faceroll until the bosses.
The bosses give you such little time to learn their techniques and the lack of invulnerability on the dash makes it that much more unsatisfying to die. For example, the Bird, the first boss that the game 'recommends' you fight has this exploding floor chasing attack. If you dash over a floor while it explodes, you get hit, even if it seems like you completely dodged it.
It may also be that im using the KB+M but throwing grenades and dashing at diagonal angles is incredibly hard to do with precision but I won't blame that on the game since it suggests using controller.

Some of the more stationary bosses like the North and West it wrecks face, but those were simpler to handle in the first place. I'm trying to collect the keys before I go to the South. I'm sure they're easier to use with a controller, but just remember to use them.

Wearing any piece of this set halves the stamina cost of any moves that consume it, including chain dashing, dash attacks, and charge attacks (hold X), etc.
So now you can use them twice as often. Stack the regen rate bonus of the pink drifter's set for good synergy!

I think it's weird to assume the dash has I-frames, you might just be used to it from Monster Hunter or something, but if you get in the mindset that dashing is meant to move away from dangers, not through them (unless you get projectile eater) then it makes more sense.
Is there a comprehensive list of all the drifter outfits and their effects? and what's this about a bonus drifter?
