Gonna post a truth here:
The issue isn't that trams characters exist in a videogame.
It's that the devs put them in just to have a trans character, and then the devs and character both proceed to shove the fact directly into everyone's faces.
If there was a trans character in a game, where the only indication they were trans were subtle hints, that would be fine. Maybe they could have an affection stat that, when high enough, would cause them to mention it directly to the PC. But for god's sake, don't make that their only defining characteristic.
Basically, make a character who is trans, rather than a trans character, and don't have them shove it into everyone's faces. Treat them like a person. Real people don't, when meeting a stranger, say, "hi, I'm Alice, I'm a mtf trans."
