I really don't understand how you've failed to notice the difference when enemies in DaS2 will just rotate on their cylindrical axis to follow you when you roll early. DaS1 combat felt tactical; DaS2 combat is just about timing.

Sure, but that's not my critique, is it? Once an enemy is locked on to you and attacking, positioning becomes irrelevant. And that's not even mentioning DaS2 parry, etc. DaS2 combat is noticeably worse.

The earlier parts of the game which are most frequently criticized are due to the old directer, Shibuya, who got switched out halfway through development because he was fucking everything up. Combined with Bamco meddling and getting From to rush the game out is why many issues of the game are quite obvious compared to the flaws present in the other Souls games.

Near-objectively wrong, because there are more bosses than in every other game I'd say that the amount of good ones trump entire other games worth of bosses like all of Demon's Souls. Some of the DLC bosses cannot be beat in terms of quality.

That's just it. It's not EXACTLY the same thing. You can't just say that two things that are superficially similar are exactly the same, glossing over important differences. Yes, DaS1 has iframes. Of course. DaS2's combat removes all of the interesting tactical features and boils it entirely down to timing rolls so that attacks coincide with iframes. Actual dodging doesn't matter when attacks just follow you.
I don't even think DaS2 sucks; I'm in the "it's ok but not as good as Dark Souls" crowd. But you're just sticking your fingers in your ears, here. It's silly.
