Honestly, I like SFV more than Third Strike, outside of visuals and music. I know I'll get castrated for it, but I feel it offers the best of every SF before it. You have the fundamentals of II, the high paced action of III, and the mind games and methodical use of V-trigger for combos and confirms like people used Focus for in SFIV. The game definitely has a way to go in single player content and things like load times between matches, but I think 5 years from now, we'll be looking at a very different game. I fucking love SFV. Already put 100 hours into it and still a rookie. But Capcom really fucked up by rushing the game instead of adding all the content, refining the netcode and presentation. It's like they worked really hard on the gameplay, made it really good and forgot about everything else surrounding it. I think its the second worst SF after SF4 overall. That being said i wouldn't say its bad. I think the strike throw meta makes fools of even pro players at the moment and defensive play is really really lacking. The game feels like its meant to be played with only one style unless you're Dhalsim/Fang and maybe Chun Li/Nash who actually have the tools to play neutral better then most.
Most fireballs have shit framedata and most pokes are stubby so the game focuses too much on trying to get into the position for the guessing game with throw. Also whiff punishing is ass in SFV. Even some fierces/heavies but mostly in the cast of mediums have very very little whiff recovery compared to almost any fighting game. So the tools especially with characters that do have good pokes out class worse poke characters even more because its harder to whiff punish them when you do bait it out to whiff.
I like Bison and kinda enjoy Ryu/Alex but overall as for the game at its core i don't enjoy it and probably won't touch it 1/2 as much as other SF games once Revelator comes out where as before id touch SF as my side game. Probably won't give it much time in general if KOF14s netcode isn't shit. But that IF is pretty huge.

The difference is 3s had better whiff punishing and parry as a defensive tool. V-reversal isn't even on par with the worse alpha counters in Alpha games. Almost no traditional defensive tools in SFV are that strong besides a few characters like Chun Li and Karin in the normal department.
Fireballs should've been made to be like Alpha where the further then are the less dmg and the closer the better. Also i think its asinine that Ryu's normal fireballs are all -7 on block and his ex is -2. Yet Ken has a +2 ex fireball. Ryu ex fireball outside of Genjin feels almost pointless.

I think I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I doubt I'll be playing much SFV when Revelator finally drops, which is a shame since I was looking forward to have this as my side game. It probably still can since how Charlie plays in this is so enjoyable, but it really feels like they nerfed everything way too much. Game's surprisingly balanced I'll give it that, but it isn't as fun as it should be. Doesn't help that the game as an insane amount of input delay, which is just another thing to check off the huge list of increasingly incompetent things they did with SFV. Anyway though, I do hope this game does receive huge overhauls to everything. Since I know this is a game I can end up enjoying a lot unlike 4, but it's up to Capcom and how they handle it. If not well, KI or KoF14 can take the place as my go to side game and I can play some Third Strike from time to time unless my friend wants me to play SFV.

Sounds like you can't read situations well. It happens with a lot of players who will take a few hours in training and think they are great now but then don't actually understand how to apply what they learnt
What you need to do is watch more videos, but don't just watch them break them down. If you need to pause them regularly when anything happens and try to think what each player is thinking about at that point. This is also a good thing to do with your replays

Delayed wakeup matters because it prevents vortex setups... There's very few actual hard knockdowns in the game, so you don't get shit like Ibuki in SF4 where players can just setplay their opponent to death off one knockdown.
Back roll can also stop what you just described. It depends on what you knocked the opponent down with, but not every character can dash in to chase a backroll after a knockdown and have time to meaty with medium normal. Wakeup lights will actually beat that a lot of the time.

Vega player here, Silver League if that makes any difference.
Against Birdie, play an aggressive mid-range game. Walk him to the corner, never jump, and stay in Claw st.MP range and keep poking and whiff punishing him. If he's a defensive Birdie, try to keep him in the corner with this strat. If he's more offensive/gimmicky, lock him down in hand mode.
Against Laura, play defensive mid-range in claw mode. Don't jump on her, look for fireball startup and do f.HP or st.MP to try and stuff it. Walk away, don't let her near you. If she walks you to the corner, either wall jump j.LK or walldive to the opposite side and land without attacking (unless she dashes at you).
Basically, against any grappler you want to play mid-range and not allow them to have any fun, if you feel confident go for hand mode pressure once they're near corner.

Birdie has one of the best neutrals in the game, the single best anti-air normal, and mixups for days. He can even give Chun the business in neutral.
Dhalsim has stronger mixups and space control, but is much easier to rush down and generally non-threatening at mid-range. He's also the easiest to stun character in the game, a character already prone to getting rushed down with low stun is a bad look. Dhalsim requires generally perfect play at all times to be viable.
Necalli is arguably top tier after he v-triggers, but getting trigger and being able to keep momentum afterwards generally takes work. Before trigger, Necalli is very exploitable and easy to lock out in neutral. He has to make very smart use of his V-skill and charge move in order to get trigger and maintain pressure early enough to swing the match in his favor.

Capcom has no official word on the subject. They didn't ban anyone for skin mods in SFIV. However, SFIV wasn't conceptualized as a "fighting game platform" or whatever, designed to sell DLC (like skins) forever and ever. So use at your own risk.

As a vega player, he's not that far from one now. Two command grabs, an air grab and a playstyle that forces defensive play with cross ups and fast mobility. And he has the long range pokes that make up a decent amount of gief's playstyle too.

SF5 feels incomplete from a variety of angles, mostly on the character front. It's 2016 and we only have 17 characters. That DLC schedule is way too slow for this type of game.

Vega is as much of a grappler as Alex is.
Alex gets way more mileage from converting his counter hits and hard hits into big damage combos with his long range pokes and elbows than he does from using his command grabs.
He is a little like Vega, Laura and Necalli, his command throws are mix-up tools, something that is there for people to not block forever.
I thought Alex was a grappler at first, and was going to switch over to him, but after a short time learning him, I realized I was wrong, too bad, I only play pure grapplers.

I don't remember how much fight money I got off from beating Hell because I did it way back in February, but I'll probably be revisiting Survival Hell if/when I finish with Hard mode. The only reason I'm even bothering with Survival is because I want to hit 1 million fight money, and I don't think beating Hard with everyone is going to be enough.
As far as Rashid goes, I haven't attempted Survival Hard with him yet, but I have a general strategy for everyone, and it's literally just get a knockdown, then spam jump ins into bnb combos.
With Bison, literally all I did was

>Psycho Inferno
>repeat
So for Rashid, I don't know what works best with him, but ideally, I'd be spamming crossup/deep jump HP/HK into his Eagle Spike for the knockdown, then repeat.
Of course, if the AI keeps anti-airing your jumps, that's when you have to sit back, take it easy, and look for an opportunity to jump.
But generally speaking, that's what is working best for me.
