Perseus still had all of his key items so while in GoW he may have not killed THE Medusa, he must have at least killed an infamous Gorgon with a similar situation as before. Unfortunately he never managed to save Andromeda.
That said I found Perseus perfect in his depiction of a Greek hero (despite being one of the very few decent ones) as an arrogant, up-his own snob while being ham.
My only real disappointment for God of War though was that Kratos never fought Achilles. Sure he could still get him in the heel but Achilles fighting prowess would have made for an incredible boss fight.
