It never mattered. There's a bunch of shitty games with scores well over 80, and there's a bunch of great games sitting well under 70. There's certainly some value in the system, I'm not doubting that. Some genuinely terrible games have very low scores, and some genuinely great games have very high scores; but nowadays I tend to take metacritic with a pinch of salt.

bb had score inflation from the tons of playstation sites, people trying to make up for shilling ds2, the muh lovecraft fags, and the fact that it had so much riding on it as sony's first good exclusive for PS4.
The base game in no way deserved the deluge of 10/10's it received, the pvp was awful, there were tons of performance issues, variety was sorely lacking before old hunters, and the game lost all momentum after amelia.

Second son was good, but it was a step down from infamous 2, all powers felt more or less the same, the good karma plot was okay, but the evil one was added five seconds before the game launched, and there was no new game plus.
