I have like 30 hours in Crysis and another 10 or so in Warhead. The game is outdated tech wise and suffers from it in numerous places. The shadows look like garbage, pretty sure the game is forward rendered meaning it can't support as many dynamic lights as newer games, the lod isn't very good, and the game still isn't very well optimized and runs worse than games that look better.

I really love the idea of a globe trotting, treasure finding adventure. It's one of the absolute most fun settings you can do. Uncharted has top-tier production values, too, polished to a mirror sheen.
Uncharted has to work really hard to make me hate it. But the biggest problem is the fact that the gameplay is just boring as fuck. There are two primary gameplay mechanics: "Platforming," which is really just holding the analogue stick in the direction you want to move while hitting X. That's it. No interesting stage hazards or fun timing like in a good platformer, just hammer X in the direction you want to move. Then you have the shooting, which is a dull, bog standard 3rd person cover based shooter. You snap to cover, you shoot guys, your health regenerates in a few seconds, that's IT. That's all there is to it. That's the entire fucking game, except for the occasional puzzle for stupid people.
Now, the gameplay is boring as shit, devoid of any challenge or strategy. Then you have the narrative. I already admitted that I LOVE the setting. The problem is that Nathan Drake is the worst fucking character in the world. Every time he opens his mouth and says words, they're the worst words. He says nonsensical, smug, dickwad things, and I hate them. His jokes are not funny, he is not endearing, I don't like him.
Then there's the biggest most glaring flaw in the story which is the fact that it's a third person shooter. Nathan Drake is not a super soldier. He's a guy in jeans. In the story he's supposed to be a crafty, smart, wily adventurer archaeologist. Then, in gameplay, he fights dozens of trained soldiers at a tine. It just doesn't make sense.
Here's how you fix Uncharted:
1) Prequel starring Sully. Nate isn't a thing yet. Or maybe Nate's a kid and the game developers their relationship as partners, but you PLAY as Sully.
2) Change the gameplay balance from 60% shooting to about 25% combat, 50% investigation / puzzles, 25% platforming. Focus on melee combat.

Serious Sam 4 is apparently using Photogrammetry, which I guess is most of the reason Battlefront looks so good. So I'm interested in how that comes out. They need to improve their models and shadow rendering too. Shadows were a lot better in the Talos Principle but they were still way too hard at times.
