This. The combat is trite, UI is shit and there's the big issue of gameplay pacing being unbalanced as fuck. In the first half you can mostly talk your way out of combat situations and most of the time is spent like playing a point'n'click investigation adventure, whereas the latter half is nothing but longass, mostly linear dungeons.
It's especially awful if you have a party of casters as the gameplay devolves into constantly running back and forth between the point where you last killed enemies and the only fucking resting spot.

They would have had to buy the rights to Planescape from Wizards and Wizards doesn't do Planescape stuff anymore so it wasn't really an option. It's not like Wasteland where they could use the IP.
That's why it's Torment: Tides of Numeria and not called Planescape. It's a spiritual sequel is all.
