To clarify, you shouldn't use provoke to pull when you can just shield lob or tomahawk it. However, the range of provoke is larger then the range of tomahawk or shield lob, so when you're trying to pull one enemy over a great distance it's acceptable to use.

There is only one instance where this is actually okay, and that's long ranged pulls of a patrolling mob, since provoke has a longer range than shield lob/tomahawk/etc... but it you don't use one of those after it actually gets into range, you're going to have fuckall for hate.
I remember a well-known use of provoke pulling in Bray HM speedruns after the first boss. One of the packs was too far away unless you ran up to it, which would waste time. Instead, you provoke that chained set, and everyone stacks, then you just use your AOE aggro when the entire room is neatly stacked in that narrow corridor.

More physical tank damage again, so sheltron sees good use. Cosistent raid AOEs mean divine veil is extra mitigation in general. Lower emphasis on DPS checks, and more on surviving. Clemency can actually help too, technically.
DRK is if you need INT down, more DPS, or an extra magic tankbuster CD.

Blood of the Dragon gives access to a 4th-tier combo in Wheeling Thrust and Fang and Claw which procs randomly after using Impulse Drive > Disembowel > Chaos Thrust or True Thrust > Vorpal Thrust> Full Thrust. He keeps interrupting the combos, so he's not getting either 4th tier hit to combo.

DPS will always be the most popular role. They already have the longest queue times by a very large margin. Cutting the DPS from 2 to 1 would outrage the hack and slash majority.
One way to offset this would be to make Support still very DPS intensive. For example, don't change current Bards at all, but just change their assigned role from DPS to Support. Another way to nip complaints in the bud would be to make Red Mage a Support job. The most requested and popular new job being Support would ensure a decent amount of players filling that role in DF.

Literally how? There is nothing that PLD can spam that can drain your TP faster than it naturally restores, except Shield Bash and Shield Lob. There are a few very specific instances where you should spam Shield Bash (and even then you shouldn't be using it before the Stun counter reaches 1), and for Shield Lob you should virtually never be spamming it. The one exception I can think of is occasionally on Sephirot if you get the orange debuff and get unlucky with the circle placements.

AoE isn't too important in the later game as a tank. If it's keeping aggro you're worried about, tanking actually gets a lot easier around the level 30-35 range when you learn your tanking stance. Though it's a huge pain in the ass right before you get it since people are actually dealing enough damage to peel enemies off of you if you're not paying attention easily.
