The way Fox says it gives the implication that Pigma was known to be an honorless slimeball before his betrayal, in which case they should've seen it coming. The intro for the original was short and had no exposition.
Kinda like the introduction of the movie, we familiarize with the characters with their personality and dialogue.
Here, they tell how you should feel about the characters and in game when they told you the story it was like 30 seconds long and when you foundFox's father alive a t the end, it really was emotional.
