I ve played the demo but it looked and felt like they changed very very little and I kinda got bored of D after playing 3 or 4 of them where almost nothing ever changed and things got stale. Does it get better or is it again more of the same? I like the games overall but it does get boring eventually if you are not a full blown autist I guess.

I've played all of them. I've never hit the point of twenty something 9999 leveled characters with COMPLELETY maxed out stats and gear, I always get burned out before that part, but I'm still having fun, I think this time is the first time I've ever gotten so far, that's why I'm so happy to get that staff in the OP

It's probably the best Disgaea mechanics wise. I'd say 3 or 4 had the best story though.

Try emulating disgaea 1,or buying it on steamfrom there you can emulate 2 as well. People argue about 2 being the worst in the series, and they're not wrong. But you should at least see why.
Anyways, 4 is a good place to start if you have a ps3.

I don't see why the hate for Disgaea 2 really. If we're talking purely story then 2 is up there with 1 for me, simply because it actually had a coherent plot. The rest are frankly a complete mess in terms of story and rely completely on how much you enjoy the gameplay and your anime lolis.

The stories are independent of each other, with the exception of DD2 because it's a direct sequel, so technically you can jump in with any of the games.
It's usually recommended to play in chronological order though, both because that way you can get used more easily to the mechanics, and because going back to previous games can be difficult due to all the changes and/or improvements new games make.
