Stage 1: kill all little spiders then whale away on my nigga Rom until he teleports
Stage 2: run for like 85% of the fight, do not kill little spiders unless it is an absolutely opportune moment where they launch themselves way out of position. Run around unto you see an area where there aren't many spiders and run in for 1-3 slashes depending on your timing and the weapon you use, never more than 3 though. Only stop running to slash and regain stamina when out of his reach. If you cannot find an opening in the little guys, try sticking to one side until they are drawn to you and then run around Rom and attack the open side. Do not dodge the meteor attack, they are specifically timed to catch you when you try to dodge them.
Stage 3: same as two but remember to not get greedy at all. His attacks are slightly closer together in timing so watch out for that and possibly consider taking less swings per run.
Don't lock on either. There's no reason since Rom isn't a timed dodging boss like most of the others.

The meteors from the sky won't hit you if you sprint towards Rom and slightly to one side. The meteors from the ground won't hit you if you're right next to Rom or far enough away.

Once you understand Rom's attacks the only real threat is getting bodied by one of her spiders.
Beast blood pellets are extremely effective at finishing the fight quickly if you can avoid getting hit. Transform attacks build the meter more quickly.

Stay right in her face. When you're close, most of what she does are just sweeping attacks that only hit directly in front of her and are easy to dodge. If she ends up doing a charge, either get super good at figuring out the safe ways to dodge, or just eat the damage because if you dodge and fail you eat counter damage which is often fatal.

My strategy with Rom is always to kill the first wave of baby spiders when she isn't spamming meteors and aoe attacks from offscreen and after the first teleport just run to in for a few hits on her and then pull out before any baby spiders leap me, rinse and repeat. Haven't had a problem with it so far.
As people have said, all of Rom's attacks are massively telegraphed; irc head in the air while far away equals meteors from above, head in the air when up close equals aoe and rolling side to side equals meteors from below.

I remember trying to farm petrified dongs by getting silky stones by helping people with smelter and trading them with the shit birds.
I was actually astounded at how bad some people were. People just walking up to smelter, forgetting the last 10 seconds where he did an AoE and removed 90% of their health.
I saw magicfags sitting in corners casting pyromancies at him.
I saw people trying to tank his hits with heater shields.
I saw hosts and even phantoms walking into EVERY single AoE.
I saw people trying to fatroll through his horizontal swipes.
I saw 3-4 man ganksquads be summoned only for the host to die in 2 hits as soon as the fight starts.
I've seen people stand perfectly still as smelter does his jumping attack and tried to attack him as he lands.
I saw a guy die by standing next to smelter for too long and letting the DoT kill him.
I think I almost developed some sort of PTSD from seeing all those poor suckers die, and waste my time while I tried to farm.
Funniest part was, almost all of the shit players I found were magic users/spellswords. The few pure physical builds I saw were usually okay at the game.

I'm just now doing a BLT build after doing literally everything else in the game and the Chikage is fucking broken, it's the strongest weapon in the entire series by far.
The damage you get with 50 BLT and simple non-chalice gems is utterly absurd, and combined with its speed outclasses anything else.
