It's been toned down heavily. Particle quantity has been massively reduced and there's a heavy drop in actual mass gained from snake corpses at all sizes.
That's why "today's best" is sub 50K. The game has been slowed down massively to speed up performance. Also, killing someone with 1K now yields something like a max of 500 points.

Yesterday I was wrecking people's shit because every retard would immediately dash straight into the orb mass after a death. I'd cut across it and secure half the orbs for myself, and usually a few dumbasses would kill themselves trying to eat the whole line and run into my tail.

Is there literally any point to this game anymore? Biggest snakes are as big as you can get just picking up orbs while briefly circling the edge. There's no early/mid/late game. You're either a tiny snake or a mid-sized snake, both of which are roughly equally threatening, and growth is made super slow because there's so few orbs in play. Yesterday with the leaderboards the way they were there were hundreds of thousands of orbs up in play in the top 10 players alone.

Also what the fuck happened to Coiling? Unless if you're in the top 30 in terms of size then you can't do a slow coil on smaller snakes and watch them squirm and panic right before you close in. If you're going to use a buzzword, at least use it correctly. When everyone is bigger on average there is a lot more to the game. Racing/coiling/bigger rewards for kills. The devs were right in changing this, this is stupid. This is one of those (many) instances when /v/ has no idea what's good because /v/ has no taste. This might be momentarily more fun but you'll burn out fast when you realize there's no strategy, whereas the balanced game had very good strategy and was actually worth playing
