It isn't even just that the trailers get uploaded to Sony's channel. The first time the game was playable and when it got it's first bigger teaser with "50 fucking characters!" -annoucement was in PlayStation Experience.

It looks like XIV's version is a little bit of a mix of claw and flame, but I liked his moveset being a little more separate from Kyo's. I'm hoping there are different versions of Iori hidden in the game.

Anyway, SNK changes movesets to their characters in a more generally intelligent fashion, except for when they leave out moves like in XIII due to time constraints anyway. The moves feel like they are really appropriate for the character, and are generally not so over the top levels that they otherwise would have seemed inspired by MUGEN, like shitty SFIV and SFV cinematic supers/ultras/CAs. Seriously, a lot of shit in SFIV was fucking Tazmanian Devil shit because they thought it looked cool. That's what bothered me about SFIV and SFV's supers/CAs, they felt like fanboys made them in Mugen.
And now that we are having more Capcom employees move to SNK, we might see some more extravagant but still generally intelligently designed attacks for each character.
Imagine if Geese had his counters and command grab taken away and some of his specials locked away in MAX mode.

And that's where things get sketch as fuck because SNK was making a lot of really stupid decisions due to the bankruptcy. Unless the time jump from 2001 to 2003 was like 10 years (it wasn't), you can pretty much chalk it up to the brand new SNK Playmore didn't know what the fuck to do with the series and were just doing random shit without regard to the story. They probably didn't communicate with Eolith or the KoF team was so new that they didn't realize what they were doing. They probably thought that it was fine and made sense since they were ripping the Garou Terry sprite that making Rock Garou age would also make sense.
The problem is as previously mentioned, the time jump from 2001 to 2003 was not 10 years. You have an older Terry sprite and Rock being older, but nothing else has aged that much. Additionally, after 03 and XI, Terry goes BACK to being the age he's SUPPOSED to be in XII and XIII, which is like 25 or so. In XIV we see that Terry has moved onto to a sort of Fatal Fury 1 outfit which may imply he is older than the Terry we have seen before, but he's STILL much younger than what he is in Garou and that would also imply that Rock is not that old yet. ADDITIONALLY AGAIN, Rock being in 2001 is a fucking mess because Geese is not dead in the KoF timeline so why the fuck is Rock hanging out with Terry in the first place? The answer to that is Eolith, similarly to SNK Playmore after buying back all of their IP's, didn't know what the fuck they were doing and were just trying to add in a fun little reference to Garou.
I'm not saying you're wrong, that guy is clearly Rock, I'm saying the KoF timeline in that period of history is a fucking mess due to various reasons and has mostly been retconned. We'll need to see what happens in XIV to have a clearer understanding.

I mean it's less that Geese isn't raising him and more that Rock ran away from his apartment that was paid for and monitored by Geese to go run off to live with Terry FOR SOME REASON and Geese never stopped him. It's confusing from multiple angles. Rock might still be pissed at Geese for letting his mother die, but the only reason he ran off with Terry was because they ran into each other when Rock was 8 and told him Geese was dead, so Rock started following him around and when he found out Terry killed Geese he tried to attack Terry. Terry felt bad and decided to raise him and train him. If Geese never died, he has no reason to follow Terry around, he has no reason to attack Terry, Terry has no reason to raise the kid. Terry might have THOUGHT he killed Geese, but that is never explained, we have no idea what the fuck happened in the KoF timeline as far as these three are concerned.
On top of that, Rock is still Geese's kid and obviously he had SOME intent on taking care of the little shit because he was putting him up in his own apartment. We're never told what Geese's intentions with him are, if he intends to have Rock take over his legacy, or if he's just doing it out of obligation since Rock is his blood. Despite everything I would at least think that Geese is the type of prick to kind of see Rock as his property and wouldn't just let one of his sworn enemies take him without putting up a fight unless he just straight up didn't give a shit, but again, we're never told this.
That's why I say we need to wait to see what the fuck happens in XIV because it could literally go in any fucking direction, from a retcon to an explanation.

About the characters not aging thing, maybe in the beginning they intended to age them since the tournaments were annual, but then they noticed it would be strange to have a 50 years old Mai at some point and stopped with that.
A good solution would be if each arc happened in the same year, that way they could age the characters just a bit and still have them young for a long time. Each year would have 4-5 tournaments including the dream matches, so 2,5 - 3 months between a tournament and another:

>99-2002
>2003-XIII
That way, in XIV only 3 years would have passed since the beginning of the series.
