glitchy crap game, who plays this trash????!
>>
not really impressive, nor game breaking.
>>
>>
pretty sure if it hit max it would just rollover into negative
>>
>>333055554
it's an unsigned value, it can't go negative.
>>
>>333055615
so it would just go back to 0

>Super Mario World can run injected code just by abusing glitches
>Super Mario 64's code is so exploitable that you can run faster than the speed of sound and travel to parallel universes
>You can ruin Paper Mario by dedicating 416 years of your immortal life to hitting a special block
Next we'll find out Super Mario Sunshine contains the solution to cold fusion.
>>
>>333055656
It is. Thank you for you comment. To find out what actually causes the crash, please, watch the video. Thanks.
>>
>>333055656
yeah, just like the video is saying.
the glitch here is that every time you hit 1, 10 or 100 you spawn a box. it's intended that you can only spawn 3 boxes. after the rollover, you create more boxes. the more boxes you have, the slower the game gets, until it crashes.
>>
>>333055794
>Super Mario 64's code is so exploitable that you can run faster than the speed of sound and travel to parallel universes

It was. Not on the console obviously

Interesting. Any idea what causes the slowdown?

How is this impressive? Literally any game with an int counter can be broken this exact same way.

are you serious?

I assume spawning the new blocks. Maybe they are also holding some insane numbers

>>
>>333056464
I don't know, spawning the boxes themselves seems unlikely.
But I assume the previous boxes don't get removed from memory, and the new boxes are overlapping the old ones. So you stuff the memory with shit, and maybe there's hittest issues as well.
>>
>>333056446
Exactly. It isn't impressive. Anybody with 10 minutes to spare can figure this out if they know how to use memory viewers.

>>333056801
I also don't think that just spawning several boxes would plummet the FPS so much. There must some kind of an error loop. Maybe it's somehow related to overlapping collision boxes

Well unless there are specific if checks, you're right.

This is grasping at straws, trying to ride the wave of the meme, and OP is a huge faggot for even finding this shit amusing enough to make a thread about it.
>>
>>333053872
I thought it was making fun of pannenkoek at first but instead it's actually just calculating time and not actually pretending to do this for 416 years

I dislike it because it's like watching a cheap magic trick that you know how to do and idiots go and eat it up. This is extremely simple and easy to mess with and get results.

Fucking unplayable glitchy game, this is why Nintendo is shit
>>
>>333056559
you sure sound cocky in your video for someone who wasted an actual portion of their life answering a question that not even one person could conceivably give a fuck about. Get a job.

Why are you trying to force this so hard

This is so fucking autistic, holy fucking shit.

>>333057003
There's only so much memory available, anon. The N64 is not exactly cutting edge.
>>
>>333058130
But it already happens after a couple boxes, so memory can not be the only issue here.
>>
>>333058296
It is. Again, the N64 is not cutting edge technology.
>>

>Literally any game with an int counter can be broken this exact same way.

Confirmed for not watching the video.
I mean it isn't impressive but what you're saying makes no sense.
The idea is that whenever it overflows and resets to zero, you can spawn a new set of blocks, and these eventually crash the game. It's a unique situation.
>>
>>333055869
What have you done...
>>
So he didn't ACTUALLY try this for 416 years? Until it's proven I won't believe it.
>>
Why do autists focus mostly on 5th gen platformers?

I've never seen anyone to be obsessed this indepth with stuff like RtcW, Baldur's Gate or original System Shock.

What if Mario spends 12 hours building up speed before hitting the block?

Mario games are known games. If you want to impress a bunch of idiots then you have to use a game that they know about. When you get a bunch of idiots to watch your video, then you can say
>like, favorite and subscribe
to rake even more views in to get even more viral. DYKG is the epitome of this.

People do dig into other games but you don't generally see YT videos on them because you can't get views on games that people don't know about or remember. Plus, if it goes beyond simple downloadable tools to mess with games, people are a lot less likely to dig. You need someone who knows how to research the proper tools AND is knowledgable on the game in question. That is just less likely to happen with lesser known titles.

Here is some shit for System Shock:
https://tcrf.net/System_Shock
>>
>>333053872
But that's boring as fuck. The SM64 meme works because of the video Pannenkoek made. It's informative, but he conveyed his commentary very weirdly and used very abstract and crazy terms for the techniques used. And let's not forget TJ """""Henry""""" Yoshi and Scuttlebug Jamboree.
>>
>>333059438

It's such a simple concept that I genuinely don't understand why "DUDE HALF AN A PRESS LMAO" is a meme.
>>
>>333060803
cause /v/ doesn't know shit about video games
>>
>>333060757
Of course it's boring as fuck. That guy opened up a memory viewer and played with one address.

Pannenkoek not only fucked around with Mario 64 to a rediculous degree but he presented it in an entertaining fashion.

It isn't even proper to compare the two.
>>
>>333060803
because of """"henry"""" you retard

every good christian knows that half A presses are real
>>
>>333060757
Plus the bug is boring
>Mario 64 has a bug to gain infinite speed which lets you exploit another bug where you go so fast you overflow outside the stage and because the model display and collisions are calculated with different types of variable you can see Mario walk outside the stage
>Paper Mario has a counter on a block and if you make it overflow the game crashes
>>
>>333060757
>>333061425
Pannenkoek comes up with his own lexicon and everything
Check this shit out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZyUGT9YPhg
>>
>>333053872
wasn't this shit posted yesterday?
Is the video creator just spamming this shit because no one else is as autistic as him for this game?

It's a great game but shit just chill.
>>
Yeah but who gives a fuck?
>>
>>333061698
Plus testing the counter is stupidly simple. If you want to see what happens when the address is about to overflow then all you need to do is write 0xFFFFFFFF to the address and hit the block again. There is nothing special here. Same with figuring out how long it would take to overflow if you did everything perfectly.
>>
>>333060803
Because of that video.
>>
>>333056048
holy shit I never realized what everyone was talking about when they said "qpu" alignment.
I understood all of that and was predicting what would happen next and it's fucking hilarious.
I'm this guy with the source engine.
>>
>>333063989

The video is piss easy to understand because he explains what's going on well but for some reason dipshits turned it into a meme to pretend it's some quantum mechanic, impossible to penetrate his thinking shit.
>>
>>333056048
This is high grade autism. Really enjoyed it.
>>
We autosage?
>>
>>333065865
Why would we be?
>>
>>333066114
Don't know, didn't expect it'd reach page 10 that quick
>>
>>333053872
Is every autist trying to break Mario games now?
>>
>>333064243
>not understanding memetics
i'm sorry, anon
>>
Why the fuck can't Nintendo make the counter stop after the 100th hit and just not let it register anymore
>>
Because they didn't think anyone would be autistic enough to keep hitting it
>>
doesnt getting to the "held" section require an initial press?
>>
>>333053872
an a press is an a press, it can't be half
>>
>>333067506
Because they didn't expect someone would be hitting it 0x100000000 times or greater. It's a fair assumption to make.
