I don't think you can start a battlestation thread on /v/ unless you are filthy rich.
Currently working on my room, i'm trying to combine a place to "work out" (read bodyweight and postural exercises) and a decent battlestation in a very moderate amount of space.
Needless to say it's not a straightforward task.

This space seems both terribly messy and horribly underutilized all at once. The fairy light chandelier is pretty nice, but why would you mount a swing indoors? Like I could understand a sex swing, but that's literally just a plank on some ropes. The larger table is too low to be of use for anything unless it's meant to be for authentic bento consumption. The ultra-modern fan clashes with the rest of the space. The stereo deck is nice and old school, but unless those are old Polk or Fisher stacks, you should probably update them to get the most out of your vinyl. It does seem like a nice space for entertaining, I'll give you that, but it would need to be picked up a bit first.

I get a lot of Razer stuff to test, and it's currently a game of sorts for me to guess the asking price before I buy them. Recently, even trying to guess higher than what I truly feel its worth is off. I always think it's cheaper than it is. Their build quality is remarkably bad for the price.
To me, it's the type of thing people go for when they don't know better, almost like Apple currently. So maybe it's just because I've used such a variety of products from different manufacturers that has me noticing this.

Oh, I dont remember names. One was a World of Warcraft themed keyboard, and the mice were one clean, "e-sports" themed one, with a button to change precision on it, and the other was some 999 button MMO mouse.
I got them cheaper because the shop where I get tech and consumables from has a point system, and they were part of what I could buy with points I earn from other purchases.
Basically I didn't pay any actual money for them, I got them with "points" for buying a VGA, laptop battery, Kindle leather cover, etc. All of the point buy stuff is always "gamer gear", mostly headphones that I have no interest in since I buy actually good ones, but I was happy with these mice and the keyboard. They all worked well, I found use for their gimmicks, and they died from me not cleaning them and from the cable being stretched and rubbing in some corner, rather than from breaking.

I love mechanical keyboards and have tried nearly every one on the market because my employer lets me expense them. Logitech, Razer, the "boutique" brands that the elitists brag about in their hardware threads, you name it.
The razer mechanical has been the most solid-feeling of all of them and has been the one I kept at work. after several years of full-time office use it still feels like the day I got it.
It was also more modestly priced than quite a few of the other ones.
I think the Razer=overpriced shit meme comes from the fact that it's a popular mainstream brand so a lot of people will pretend to hate it simply for that

It sounds to me like you agree that they're not worth their price, but I guess we'd have different definitions of average when it comes to KB/M. I've had a fair amount of experience with Razer stuff, and would never pay what they ask because there's always something better for the same price.
I essentially mean "mid-tier" when I say average, and I don't think ALL of their products are like that, just most of them. They're selling to people that rarely know better, and their marketing works wonders.

I actually think the Blackwidow is one of the worst mechanical keyboards I've ever used. Naturally, it all comes down to personal preference, but I just don't like using it. I'm currently using a Corsai K70, which I'd consider better, but not something I want to keep for much longer. I'm just waiting for something new that I haven't tried yet, with features I've grown to like.

I'm far too fond of my cherry reds or I'd go back to it. I actually use a wireless Logitech combo board when I'm not using the space for PC gaming, but when I do I far prefer the feel of my proper board. Alienware has pretty terrible build quality, and their customer service is a real mixed bag. I had a roommate who bought one of their higher-end towers out of his college fund, and it shipped with a bad video card. He had to return the whole unit, then they sent it back with the side panel beat to shit. He called to complain and they told him he'd have to ship it back again. Gets it back a third time, finally everything seems great, and then he boots up and finds out that they didn't put in his second 1TB drive he requested in his build. They won't just ship him the drive either, he'll have to send it back. He sends it back, they say there's no record on their end of the drive being ordered. He e-mails them his receipt, dead air for two weeks, then he finally gets the system back in its proper configuration. This took him the better part of a semester, and he had to do all of his work on a beater Dell laptop I loaned him.(I used to keep three cheap-ass refurbished Dell laptops to loan students while I fixed their personal systems). So, in short, it's just a shitty company. Oh, and Razer wouldn't honor the warranty on a discounted Blackwidow I got after it died in three months.

You already have a pretty minimalist setup, and it seems pretty purposefully built. Only thing I would personally recommend is dropping a couple bucks into some better speakers if those are Logitech 2.0s like I think they are, as I've always found their speakers to be passable at best. I'd be in a controlled facility due to the schizophrenia then. Schizophrenia aside, I'd start by finding a full time job that would leave me open for a night shift somewhere. Main job covers the rent, side job covers utilities and living expenses with whatever's left over for savings. I'd also try to find somewhere with a roommate arrangement I could work with to cut costs. If I am a college student, then it'd be reasonable to assume that a school is nearby and plenty of students would be looking for someone to split rent with. Failing even that, I would couch surf until I could find something. The hardest part is finding out exactly how far you're willing to go to survive and succeed, and getting a job. Gas stations are always looking for people due to the insane turnover rates. Same thing for delivery drivers.
All that being said, I totally hear where you're coming from, and it's not fair of me to say my personal system would work for everyone else. I will posit, however, that it's a system that could work for someone else, and thus offering up my system as friendly advice is not some malicious indictment of everyone else's current living situation, and I apologize if it came off as such.

Oatmeal, rice, beans and chicken are very inexpensive and can last you a long time. Make home made granola, get some yogurt and cheap fruit. Prep your meals for a few days. That's what I've been doing for a while, mostly because of trying to control what I eat but it has saved me a lot of money. Only spend about $50 for 2 weeks worth of meals(including whey protein).
