I'm actually finding this game interesting. The missions give you a sense of accomplishment, and in a way the limited bank account allows you to focus more on what you're doing. I recall feeling listless after playing a while on the previous DOAX games, but so far this has kept my interest.

I haven't really figured out what Square is really for yet either.. in the instructions it says to press Circle to recieve, then Square to "set up" and then X to spike.. But really pressing Circle just passes it to your partner.
If you're both in the back and you pass it to your partner and then run to the net they will likely pass it back to you and from there you'll enter an auto-movement phase where your character will jump and at that point its just pressing X at the right moment to spike.. The tip you get back at the hotel tells you to hit X at the highest point of the jump to get the best spike. AFAIK you can't really jump on your own.. the game kinda holds your hand on that one.
So what exactly happens in this game?
Are you like a romantic interest to the character and you play minigames and gift shit to win favor or is it just like play minigames and random shower scene

Square is like a quick attack button. If you spike and knock an opposing girl down, but they manage to return the ball, there's two ways to set up another spike quickly, as opposed to the typical Bump, Set, Spike. You can use square instead for the first bump, which sets up an immediate spike, or hold circle down and right (towards the net) on the D-pad. It's to take advantage of an opposing girls being down or out of position.

I love the game, despite it lacks some features from the second game it still keeps all the fun I used to had with DOAX2 and the mission system actually adds some pression in your time management, however, there's two things that annoys me
-No custom soundtrack support: This has been a console feature from some time and a game option since the very fist game and yet somehow TN fuck it
-No ponytail option for Nyo/Marie
