More Borderlands / Souls / Mass Effect than Planescape / Baldur / KotOR. Can't say if you'd consider that good or bad, but at least it's well-executed.
an exceedingly average game that somehow still is very satisfying as it has all the progress bars and loots drops our stupid monkey brains love.

I thought it was good. Dark Zone is where the action and the tension of the game really lies. Don't go there until you get some damn good gear, though.
That being said it's still lacking in some meat on the bones, as evidenced by the quick DLC. I'll buy it anyways because the aesthetic is pretty good and I want this game to get better.
