How is the godot engine?
Also, hows that game coming along anon?
>>332985767
good, i am getting more comfortable with zbrush. i think i am really ready to start cranking out those blob monsters
Quickly cobbled together these guys in Aseprite.

Still working on the whole thing, but thanks again to the anon that suggested time cards for my Time Block loading transition. It's giving me a lot more interesting concepts to play with than just using a plain old rectangle.
Uh outside of this I was able to document how i want combat to work finally, so I'm also currently working on saving and displaying party member stats
I made this yesterday
and this today
Been thinking of making a website to put all myideason. I have a stupid question, though. Is a website that has all your game shit enough proof that you kind of have a "copyright" on the ideas, etc.? Gotta keep my OC donut steel.
>>332989841
what do you mean by ideas, exactly? you can copyright characters, dialogue, art assets, music, etc. not "ideas"
I have done nothing for the past week, and have no plans right now to change that.
>>332987025
Bulby's walking sprites.
>>332991782
Trying to work out a disturbing look for my enemies.
Going moderately well, just throwing some ideas around, but I don't have anything I'm satisfied with yet.
Critique and suggestions are very welcome.

To be more specific, I've made a bunch of character designs, storyline points, battle system thoughts, and things of that nature for my proposed game idea. Pretty much still in the design/planning stages, but I thought it'd be nice to make a blog or website bringing together all of my stuff. The only reason I bring up copyright is that I was talking to a friend about my game things and he was all "But what if someone steals it?!" It made me think about the whole process, even though I'm still in the very early stages.
>>332975639
how do you do it, op?
>>332992454
My philosophy has always been to get a leg up on anybody who might rip your stuff/take a bit too much inspiration before making it very public. That way, even if someone does decide to make a clone, people can easily know which came first and you will probably beat them to the release.
If you start blogging about your early concepts, there's little stopping people from copying them.

looks cool. the fracture makes it look like it used to be part of a wall or something. i think lighting, environment, context, sound, etc. tends to matter a lot more than the monster itself, though. it'll never be scary if it's in broad daylight and the player can easily defeat them
>>332992871
Yeah, most definitely, I look forward to doing the sound design and animation on these things, because I think that's where they'll shine, but they need to look tastefully disturbing.
I want them to look like they come from a Nicola Samori work, but still have an original twist.
>>332991550
I'm putting my game on the backburner now that I realized there is no money to be made in gamedev.
>>332993268
take a look at interstellar marines (videogame)
i think it would be a nice idea if you took some notes down on how they handle creepyness+ sound design in an action game
its about fighting killer humanoid robots in a pitch dark abandoned facility with co-op futuristic marines
>>332994586
I'm going for a more classic Survival Horror vibe, but I'll check it out.
>>332994910
the encounters with robots are truly panic and desperation inducing, since you either kill him fast or watch the robot (at you in an inhuman way of running) proceed to claw you with ear raping sounds in each step they take
>survival horror
why dude, youre just gonna be more of the bunch, youll be lucky if you get 1 or 2 youtubers on you
>>332995292
I make games I want to play, not because I hope to get rich from them, but because that's what I truly enjoy.
>>332995609
This is the only good way to do amateur gamedev.
>>332985767
>hows that game coming along anon?
Ask /h/kinda slow actually...
I'm doing environments. My wall texture is so boring and repetitive that I'm looking for stuff to add to the walls.
>>332986732
Nice mushrooms, please turn off lens flares.
>>332987979
Good luck with that, UI widget can be a bitch.
>>332997479
Great art.
>>332997874
>Great art.
Thanks!it's all stolen from japanase VN's though.
Don't die, thread!
Has anyone even tried Lumberyard?
I have it downloaded, but the prerequisites list scares me off every time I feel like toying with it.
Got multiple subpasses working, so this renders to an attachment and then samples it in just one draw call
>>332999710
Two calls*
>>332989841
Sounds like a good source for me to steal ideas from.
Just making random shit
>>332994506
There's tons of money but if you only care about that, your games will be shit
>>332997874
Tell me about it.I'm more pissed unreal has yet to add sprite support into widgets, so I have to spawn all UI sprite stuff correctly in the scene. It's a huge pain in the ass but whatever.
More environments.
>>332998039
>it's all stolen from japanase VN's though.
Meh, disappointed but kind of expected.
>>332999710
Is this a game?
>>333001219
I think you can import videos to texture somehow, those must be in an specific format though, or at least it was that way with UDK. Videos will probably be heavier than gifs but you could try I guess.
>>333001075
saved, nice drawing anon!
