The Imperial Guard is the name of the regular army, since they have a large presence in the entire Imperium and are able to quickly respond to any threat, ergo they guard the Imperium. Space Marines are the elite infantry that is used in the more extreme cases, where some shit needs to be fucked up quick, so Adeptus Astartes, or Space Marines, is more apporpriate.

>>332983605

I know what you're saying, on the flip side;

IG are closer to modern day marines, being ordinary humans who are trained to deploy in foreign locations. Imperial Guard sounds more prestigious and less like a conventional military unit, the personal bodyguards of an emperor or an imperial palace.
>>

not how many as much as how powerful of one, she could probably stand up to something like a Primarch with a full set of her gear at end game

Warhammer 40K is for obnoxious mouthbreathing retards who have the need to win "internet arguments" about which made up universe could beat all other made up universes.

I have a feeling that the makers of 40K created the size and scale of their universe as a huge inside joke. Ships the size of planets, alien invasions that span half the galaxy, 10 foot tall humans that weigh a ton, it's fucking retarded.

But don't worry, because if you question ANY of this you're called a "heretic" and the circle jerk continues.

Well guess what, my 40cuck friends, i just imagined, in my head, of a ship twice the size of the largest ship in the 40K universe maned by trans-dimensional meta humans that fire psi-weapons capable of melting even the most powerful space marine armor, and they just got done fucking your mother.
>>
>>332980694
The space Marine bolter gun is essentially a anti-material calibre riffle with exploding ammo that detonates after penetrating.

A couple shots would kill the chief, and seeing as to how enhanced the Space marines are, just about better in every single fucking way, armor included, strip down the plot armor of both, and the space marines wins every single time.
>>
>>332984929

>>332986089
There really more like the modern day army. A large group of generally trained soldiers meant to occupy and secure a large geographic location. Generally competent in their designed task with some badass specialized units or older units held to a higher standard from a historic pedigree.

His complaint is fairly valid because for about as far back as I can remember (Mid 2005) any discussion of anything on this site that mentions strength or power in the slightest... Space Marines get brought up.

It's kinda like how people used to complain how Furries tried turning all discussions towards Furries... 40K fanboys do the exact same thing. It gets tiresome.

I'd honestly say she could slaughter them until she gets tired. Her suit converts matter to shields and ammo (read; pickups) so as long as she keeps killing she can keep going. Their best option would be to hide and try and bleed her slow, but since she's faster than them and can easily locate them using her various visors even that falls short.

Halo lorefag here that's not an obnoxious fag like him: He's wrong. spartans would lose.

Granted, they'd have a much better shot then you'd think, as canoniically they are way faster and stronger then the halo games would imply (for example, at age 14, even without armor, they could take down powered exoskeletons that were almost mechs on their own with no guns just by punching it and tearing off it's mounted guns, and in armor you see shit liike them punching anti tank missles out of the sky and running 60 mph by tearing their own achilees tendon or sniping people out of aircraft while hanging upsiide down from an airrcraft themselves), but the bottom line is iif you put a good level space marine (i'm not a warhammer guy so I don't know all the tiers) and a spartan in a cage, the spartan is gonna lose unless they also have a smart AI with them, in which case the space marine is fucked because that smart AII is just gonna shut their suit down.

40k also has the advantage in a war situation since the empires in thehalo universe aren't as expansive as n the 40k universe even if the ship tech and sizes and weaponry in the halo universe are a match or exceed 40ks: The covenant's navy while having plenty of ships that match 40k's strongest ones, pobably only has a total size of 10,000-30,000 ships max, their absolute largest fleet is only 800-2000 ships large. The UNSC is even lower in quanitity.

The main thing the halo universe has going for them, the UNSC especially, is that theiir FTL and AI shit is way ahead of the 40k universe.

All of that said the forerunners or ancient humans, let alone the flood or precursors would absolutely demolish even the highest level factions in 40k.
>>
>>332990124
>Go read a book
I'm not a part of this argument, but I wouldn't be caught dead reading a Halo or 40k book, senpai.
>>
>>332986480
But 40k is one of the lowest powered tier universes in history.

The Culture wouldn't even notice the entire universe of 40k combining.

When a ship can move and fire at 240,000 times the speed of light, you can't beat that. In other words, The Culture is one of the top tier. Hell, BOLOS is better than 40k in many regards.

>>
>>332990126

i once saw someone arguing that proper FTL travel is a pretty fucking huge advantage, since guerilla space warfighting is pretty impossible for the imperium to deal with.

also what powers do an AI have to shut down a suit?
it seemed like cortana couldn't mess with spark, for example.
>>
>>332990395
the necrons c'tan could just open a black hole any time and all the flood would say goodbye
>>
>>332990126
Absolutely misinformed bullshit. A Spartan's suit AI won't be able to even interface with a Marine's suit. How are they gonna possibly do that? It's not like power armour is a fucking bluetooth connection.

Besides that, 40k is very obviously a match for anything in the Halo universe. The Flood are a weak version of Tyrannids and the Flood beat the shit out of the ancient Halo universe.

Every faction bar the Tau have a 'end game' win scenario in 40k. Every one. Every faction is gearing towards it. GW has yet to think of a reason the Tau would win, there is no 'end game' they're going for. Yes, they are the fastest new tech adaptors, but there is no McGuffin they're aiming for. At beast Farsight turns into a Chaos God or whatever the Monster he's suppose to turn into.

“Nemiel watched the Astartes race up to the street corner and put their backs to a burnt-out storefront, their bolters held across their chests. One of the two warriors – Brother Cortus, Nemiel thought – slid to the end of the wall and peered around the corner. Nemiel heard the battle cannon fire and watched the corner of the building Coitus was standing at disintegrate in the space of a single heartbeat. The two Astartes disappeared in a blizzard of pulverised stone and fragments of structural steel. A billowing cloud of dust and smoke enveloped the intersection and rolled down the street towards the rest of the squad. The squad took cover on reflex, crouching behind rubble piles or pressing close to a building wall. Nemiel checked his helmet display and saw the status icon for Brother Cortus flash from green to amber. He was wounded, perhaps seriously, but still functional. The walls of the building must have shielded the Astartes from the worst of the blast. Less than a minute later Brother Yung emerged from the smoke cloud, his black armour caked with brown dust. He was half-carrying, half-dragging Brother Cortus. Nemiel rose from cover and jogged forward as Yung set the wounded warrior down next to the shattered stoop of a hab unit. Cortus reached up and fumbled with his helmet. One side of the ceramite helm had been partially crushed, shattering the right ocular and splitting it from crown to nape. Yung lent a hand and helped the wounded Astartes pull the helmet free. ‘Status?’ Nemiel asked. Brother Cortus sent the smashed helmet bouncing across the street.

Not WW2, no. The fluff states they can take regular tank shots, it's mentioned in pretty much every edition. Just because they CAN die to them in the game is irrelevant. AP2 anything will kill a Space Marine, unless it's a meme strength, then the Toughness save can block it. Or they have a ++/+++/FnP.

Fuck sake, 40k is really heading towards WHFB tier levels of rules.

And go from there, the flood once they get control of a sizable amount of star systems essentially turn into reality warping eldritch elder gods. They can literally just throw stars as projectile weapons and tear slices across spacetime. The precusors, which the flood are reincarnations of, have lived through multiple big bangs and big crunches. The grravemind/key mind collective would fucking corrupt the god emperor's psyche instantly via logic plague

Late game flood/precusors are some of the most OP fictional races period, let alone modern scifi universes.

The skin on the right side of his face had been deeply scored by the impact, peeling away the flesh down to the bone in some places. His right eye was a bloody ruin, but the wound was clotting quickly thanks to Cortus’s enhanced healing ability. ‘One battle tank and four APCs, three hundred metres south,’ he said, his voice rough with pain. ‘Approximately a platoon of infantry in hasty defensive positions, maybe more.’ ‘I was talking about your head, brother.’ Cortus glanced dazedly at the Redemptor, blinking his one good eye. ‘Oh, that,’ he said dismissively. ‘It’s nothing. I agree, partially. It depends on the Spartan and how much preparation they have. Canon wise Hunters are probably stronger or equal to a space marine and Spartans have been known to fight them in hand to hand and win. The problem with this comparison of which space jarhead would win is difficult though, as Spartans are more shock troopers and special ops, while space marines can range from regular infantry to guys so powerful that 1v10000 is just a fair fight to them.

They have planets called key minds that are essentially giant precursor AI's with processing powers that dwarf most of Forerunner AIs and everything else They are so numerous that they fucked with space time and bent space time fucking with slipspace. It's not even known how vast the Tyranids are. In fact it's theorized that the only thing you ever see of them is a Vanguard. While the Flood is certainly formidable in the Halo universe, in the 40k universe they would just be 'another bug hunt'.

>the navy
I appreciate your citations, but even with all the combined might of all the races in all of the Halo universe, if the same were to be said with 40k it would be over instantly. It's implied, when the Lizardmen appeared in WHFB, that the Old Ones were trying to start again. Only to realise that Chaos exists in ever dimension, in every existence. Oh and the Orcs in WHFB were from the spaceships of the Old Ones, carried by spores. In essence, they had Ork spores on them, travelled to a new dimension, then brought them with them.

Age of Sigmar is essentially the survivors of WHFB going "Okay, Chaos is going to exist no matter what we do, so our best hope is to kill it in our universe"

But that's wrong. They made the orks and the eldar to fight the C'tan, star eating gods prodded into doing something by the necrotyr, and the shiny new necron.

It was the C'tan, who were capable of destroying entire star systems relatively easily, and necrons, armed with what is still the most advanced tech in the setting and immortality, who finally managed to kill the old ones.

No they didn't. The Orks were the bioweapon of the Old Ones which got out of control when the Old Ones fled. The reason the Old Ones died was they pissed off the Necrontyr, who in turn bargained with C'tan. Then a huge war started, a war the Old Ones were winning. Then the Necrontyr got their new bodies and pushed back, but barely any change happened. Just when shit looked like it was over, the Enslavers appeared and started fucking over the Old Ones in a way the C'tan and Necrontyr couldn't.

So the Old Ones eventually all died or fled. The most supported evidence is they escaped to the WHFB setting.

Standard Bolter ammunition utilizes a mass-reactive fuze, designed to penetrate the target before detonating within, maximizing damage to the target and leaving little chance for survival.

it's result number 10 or something when googling world breaker hulk, the picture doesn't show up when just googling the hulk, so i assume it's intentional.

also FTL piggyback rides was not part of my plan before but now i think i need it.

They used to be able to just use a stick and if they believed it shot bullet, it would. Just magically making a stick shoot bullets out of air.

Now, it has to have the shape, trigger and the bullets to actually shoot bullets, no more ridiculous tier shit. In the hands of others, it either doesn't work, barely works and jams a lot or just explodes.

>>332994250
Nope. It's been mentioned in a book as early as last month. Essentially an Ad Mech Biologos opens up an Ork brain and finds that the part of the brain for invention is bigger and there is some part of the brain he isn't sure what is for. But theorizes that it's part of a psychic node. In essence. If you power an Ork weapon in your own hand, it will break. It isn't suppose to work. It defies logic. If you put it in an Ork hand and feed electricity through them, then the weapon will work beyond all reason.

There is a sort of biological imprint and psychic field which keeps their shit from falling apart.

Hey, I admit being wrong and proven it was, but if you legitimately think that your shit tyranids woudl defeat a endless hoard of time and space altering bioweaponized spores, a endless hoard of immortal Daemons, 4 of the most powerful manifestations of human emotion who have the ability to completely remove anything from existence on a whim, a literal God,a race of nigh indestructible robots with tech so advanced their most basic guns just strip away your molecular composition layer by layer and have a fuckton of time-space altering gods, or hell, if you think your wannabe Tyranids could even outlast the real tyranids in a real fight, then Im sorry pal, but you are just deluded as fuck.

Halo is a good franchise, fun as hell, but WH40k was made for this sort of ridiculous.

Once again. Lucifer was Horus in the story. He was beaten by the Emperor. Emperor is literally God. He was killing the Chaos Gods on his own.

It's Emperor > Lucifer.

>>332995204
So is the Emperor and the Emperor still remove somebody from existence. Horus never existed. Everything. His body, mind and soul, was removed. Not just from the warp or material realm, but from existence. His soul was removed from literal Hell.

So far nobody has provided actual evidence to how warhammer 40k would beat the Precursors. Instead I got shit flinging.
>>332995484
Everything you have said has been: done by the precursors, multiply times, and better. Yeah I think my "wannabe Tyranids" would do better than the actual Tyranids of your stupidly powerful universe. You're just salty that Halo of all universes has something that would curbstomp all of warhammer in one go.
