Why do people prefer Discord over other VOIP programs?
Rarely does Mumble, Teamspeak or Ventrilo render a person incomprehensible due to having a slow connection while this is a common occurrence on Discord.
And all those programs, and Skype, and pretty much literally any other method of VOIP loads up within a few seconds of you launching the application, if not instantly. Discord can take over half an hour to load if you're unlucky, leaving you starting a blank white box with no indication of anything happening, or just refuse to load entirely forcing you to restart your computer or delete the program entirely and reinstall it.
Literally the only advantage Discord really has is not needing to pay for a server, but it's not like you can't just find a free server to sit in on any other program or just call people on skype.

My friends and I use teamspeak and I just host a server locally when we use it. It's the simplest fucking thing to do, I'm not sure how anyone could have a hard time with it.

I actually have the exact opposite experience here. I have a friend with absolutely balls internet. On Mumble and Vent, she would devolve into a robotic sounding mess that no one could understand. This hasn't happened yet on Discord. (YET)

I've personally not had this problem. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but I haven't had it. Nor have any of my friends.

It's a good advantage. I also really enjoy the chat box. When it comes to VOIP though, I'd only ever use Mumble or Discord at this point. Fuck using Skype for anything. That gigantic fucking resource hog and security risk can suck a chode.

I mostly use it because it's easy to be active in multiple servers compared to TS/Mumble. It's easier to get the people I give a fuck about talking with to join me, it's stable, and it's not complete eyecancer.

Mumble is low-profile impact both visually and performance-wise. You may argue that Discord is better "visually", though I'll argue that Discord is ugly material design bullshit that only appeals to new-age children who care not for efficiency, but for simplicity. Simplicity does not equal effectiveness, nor does it equal efficiency. The visual style, too, does not equate to fine arts - don't try and push that basic propaganda.
To conclude:
If you're ignorant, use Discord. If you're aware, use other alternatives (Mumble, Vent, qTox [my personal favorite is qTox, biased due to /g/ origins however])

Out of all the programs, Discord is only 2nd in longest load times with Skype in 1st, Skype takes fucking forever in comparison.
All that really matters is what codex the shit uses, if its not using Opus its garbage. Vent is outdated and the others have paid servers.
The only real competition to Discord in this sense in Curse, which is great, but its more one on one or small groups of 5 instead of teams of 20+, which Discord can do, which is why its replacing Teamspeak/Mumble.
In terms of quality theres no difference between everything minus Skype/Vent. Its your preference, what your team wants to use and if you're willing to spit out cash for a server.

It's not like you have any arguments, all you're doing is accusing Discord of being worse because it has a more user-friendly interface (which, believe it or not, is very important) while offering the same quality of audio as the alternatives unless you're from a non-first world country. I use Mumble, TS and Discord for different communities and they're all fine. There are three things that Discord does that the others don't, the built-in Slack-like messaging client, the fact that it's significantly more user friendly and the browser-based part of the client that just lets you connect through a URL without installing anything or even making an account.
