The worst part about Quiet was that she became a love interest.
Sexualizing a woman is one thing. You can sexualize a character and still do interesting things with them. But as soon as you pull a Titanic and shoehorn in a love sub-plot, you've dug yourself into a hole, and not just for that character.
The Boss was a far more interesting character because she was in love with an idea, not just the main character. Eva? No one gives a shit about her because she's just another dumb love interest, and she's just as plot relevant.
I've not got anything against a love story, but did we really need one in the "darker" MGS? She could have just been an promising disciple, like Snake was to The Boss in 3. Imagine if she had been a character worth admiring instead of rolling your eyes at that rain/shower scene.
