You know, for all its (many) flaws, I appreciate what they were trying to do with AC 3.
They tried to present a conflict far beyond the understanding of the protagonist, who launches himself into it with youthful anger and naivety after he suffered a great loss. But everything in the world is grey, and his path soon becomes unclear.
He seeks justice for the wrongs committed against him and his people, and wants to fight for the good of the people, but learns in the end that it is not so simple as all that.
The idea was there, but the execution of it wasn't great. I know AC 3 had a fucking dreadful development process.
I'm still not sure why they cut Connor's monologue at the end, which helps define his growth as a character really nicely.

I don't how Ubisoft managed to make the genocide of an entire culture an unengaging experience, but they did.
At least Conner has the best counter kills of the series.
