nah lightning returns is a better JRPG.
It's an okay rune factory clone though, still a lot of useless bullshit though, doesn't come close to touching harvest moon ps1 or friends of mineral town.

IMO the farming mechanics are better than harvest moon or rune factory (at least in options/layout/tools), but combat is worse than RF and characters are worse than HM or RF games (I find stardew's villagers kinda boring).
There is no winning here, though I still consider PS1/N64 Harvest Moons and RF 3&4 to be the best of these type of games.

That's not even remotely close enough of a reason to call it a JRPG. It's barely an action rpg (no stats, only things that "level up" are basic skills). Just because it kind of has parts of something doesn't make it something.
It's a Harvest Moon type game, that's it. There's no real genre name for it (barely a "farming simulator" since its not very sim-like).
JRPG would be like... dragon quest, final fantasy, star ocean, etc.
